Plans, delivers and evaluates Workplace Readiness Skills (WRS) instruction based upon specific standards and objectives established by CCPS. Assists students in learning knowledge and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible citizens.
  • Job Location = Chesterfield Career and Technical Centers (both campuses)
  • Teacher Contract + 2 days = 202 Days

Essential Job Functions:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Establish and maintain school-business partnerships/relationships with post-secondary education institutions and regional businesses/industries to support local workforce development on behalf of CTC students.
  • Coordinates the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center Work-based Learning program that includes, but may not be limited to, job-shadowing experiences, career-exploration field trips, internships, youth apprenticeship, career assessments and career placements.
  • Serves as the liaison between businesses and the students participating in work based learning programs.
  • Assist Tech Center teachers in connecting potential advisory committee support.
  • Coordinate interactions between Tech Center teachers and representatives of post-secondary education institutions and regional businesses/industries and facilitate development of education and employment opportunities for students.
  • Plans, delivers and assesses appropriate WRS curriculum content to students.
  • Assesses students' learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group/individual needs.
  • Uses the curriculum of the district to plan daily instructional activities.
  • Maintains order within the classroom setting in accordance with division guidelines regarding student behavior management.
  • Supervises students in non-classroom time (before school, after school, student activities, fire drills).
  • Collaborates with other faculty in planning and delivering instruction to students.
  • Communicates regularly with parents.
  • Collaborates with businesses to ensure proper placement of work-based learning students.
  • Oversees the administration of all work-based learning programs at the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center
  • Coordinates business and community needs with specific Tech Center programs.
  • Ensures compliance with existing applicable federal and state statutes and local policies, regulations and guidelines related to public schools.
  • Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence.
  • Performs other duties as established by School Board Policy.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Qualifications:
Working knowledge of the concepts, principles and methodologies of instruction, learning theory and teaching methodologies for special education students. Demonstrated ability to identify students appropriate for special education programs; to develop instructional goals for students within special education programs; design and deliver instruction and assess student's learning. Demonstrated abilities in decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships and planning.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must hold a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in secondary (K-12) content area.
  • Must hold a valid Virginia Driver's license as this position is designated as a driving position. Driving record checks are performed annually in accordance with Policy 5431.
  • Ability to address large groups of people.
  • Awareness of all programs at the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center.
