PURPOSE OF JOB: To coordinate and implement KCPS performance standards relating to Early Childhood development, health services, and family/community partnerships. Effectively supervises the Parents as Teachers program. To understand, support and be able to explain the objectives and goals of the Parents as Teachers program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervises, monitors, and maintains accountability of the Parent Educators.
Plan and facilitate meetings, education and training for the Parents as Teachers program.
Participates in recruiting and identifying family needs, enrollment referral, and follow-up as needed to assist family workers.
Understands family advocate management with the ability to assign and supervise case loads worked by full and part-time Parent Educators.
Assigns staff to activities; provides training and guidance to ensure in-service training and continuing education for professional development on an area-wide basis.
Recruits families and implements procedures of services to participants of the Parents As Teacher/Head Start Programs.
Supervise recruitment efforts of Parent Educators to identify birth to three year old children for screening services and the maintenance of created records.
Develops and implements parent education programs, activities for parents and children together, and other group meetings to aid families with children from birth to age five.
Merchandise and promotes the PAT and Head Start program while mainlining positive contacts with community agency personnel to ensure maximum collaborative efforts.
Seek out and work cooperatively with collaborating agencies, organizations, businesses, industries, and other School district programs that aid all efforts to benefit families of the Kansas City Public Schools to ensure its positive image throughout Kansas City and the state of Missouri.
Develop and manage an up-to-date referral system while maintaining records. Evaluate or appraise performance of Parent Educators and the functions of parenting centers within the area.
Calculate budget and complete financial, monthly quarterly and other reports as required by the Director of Early Learning.
Maintain and verify inventory of property in keeping with KCPS regulations.
Enforce and verify pay sheets and mileage forms, etc. turned in by employees to be accurate while adhering to PAT/HS standards as set by the Director of Early Learning.
Supervise up to 25 part-time employees.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Yes
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
At least 3 years experience as a certified PAT Parent Educator
At least 5 years experience as certified PAT Supervisor, childcare administration, or parent education
