Community Field Coordinator

Boston Community Leadership Academy, the first traditional Boston Public School to convert to a pilot school program enrolls 475 students in its 9-12 college preparatory program. Recognized since 2007 by US News and World Report in its silver and bronze medal categories as one of the best high schools in the U.S., our school serves an increasingly racially, ethnically, linguistically, and ability diverse student body as evidenced by its 52% Latino, 35% Black, 25% English Learners, and 22% students with learning disabilities (SWLD) enrollment. Approximately half (47%) of our student population does not fit the classification or designation ascribed to traditional (regular) program students.

We are seeking a dynamic, goal-oriented, and hard working educator to join our unique school community as we transition to the implementation of systems of support for students that are data-driven, goal-oriented, solution-focused, incentive-based, monitored, and designed to support students as they achieve academic and personal success at BCLA.

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations and Student Advancement, the Community Field Coordinator is responsible for:

  • the daily monitoring and tracking of students' conduct and behavior related concerns to ensure compliance with the school's and district's expectations for students
  • communication with students, parents, families, teachers, staff, and collaterals in regards to students who are struggling to meet conduct and behavioral expectations
  • daily and/or weekly meetings with students in need of incentive, consequence, or intervention-driven behavior plans
  • collaborating with 9th grade teachers and team to support 9th students as they achieve behavioral expectations at our school, inclusive of participation in weekly Grade 9 team meetings
  • documenting all student meetings, incentives, consequences, outreach, and parent/family communication in Aspen/SIS to ensure cohesion and consistency in communication between CFC and BCLA faculty/staff
  • follow through with conduct referrals submitted by faculty in Aspen/SIS and inclusive of response and communication with parents and/or families
  • identification and scheduling of administrative detention for students in need of consequence system to address or support behavioral expectations
  • scheduling and facilitation of meetings with parents/ families/collaterals (inclusive of suspension hearings) to address behavioral concerns
  • attend weekly Student Support Team meetings
  • attend district wide professional development that aligns with our school's participation in the Comprehensive Behavioral Health Model (CBHM) and PBIS. Attend Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training
  • support the school's administrative (whole school) detention program
  • support the supervision of students during lunch periods and transitions
  • other duties as designated by the Headmaster and administrative personnel

Qualifications:

Required:
  1. Associate's degree or
  2. Forty-eight (48) Credit Hours of College Coursework or an Associate's Degree, or a passing score on one of the two following Formalized Standardized Assessments: ParaPro Assessment ( http://www.ets.org/parapro/ ) or WorkKeys Certificate of Proficiency for Teacher Assistants ( http://www.act.org/workkeys/profcert/index.html ).
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills
  4. Strong communication skills
  5. Demonstrated success in establishing community partnerships and networks
  6. Experience working with young people
  7. Demonstrated experience working with community based organizations particularly those that work with migrants and immigrant families
  8. Sensitivity to student cultural and special needs
  9. Ability to work as a member of a team.
  10. Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment
Qualifications

Preferred:
  1. Bachelors degree
  2. Computer literacy.
  3. Proven experience in fundraising, grant writing and report writing of projects.
  4. Proven managerial expertise in an urban setting.
  5. Experience working in urban schools.
  6. BPS values linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring added value to the classroom, school, and district culture and diversity. BPS is particularly interested in candidates who are fluent in one of BPS' official languages:Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali.

* Spanish-speaking and/or bilingual

* BCBA and/or BCABA certification or training

Terms:

* BTU contractual rate
