POSITION TITLE: Teacher-Humanities (SEI Endorsement Required)

Position Responsibilities:
  1. Teaching:
    1. 3 sections of Humanities - grades 9-11
    2. 1 section of Advisory
  1. Collaboration:
    1. Attend weekly Humanities Team meetings and summer retreat
    2. Attend weekly House Team meetings
    3. Collaborate with Humanities Team members to design curriculum materials and strategies that address one essential question for the year.
  1. As a Pilot School, Fenway holds professional development and faculty retreats that extend beyond the regular school year.

Requirements: ELA or History Certification and ESL certification
Preferred: Special Education certification

This position reports to the Headmaster

Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional HUMANITIES TEACHER with an SEI endorsement who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. REPORTS TO: Principal/Headmaster

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • TEACH: English in an SEI setting in grades 9-12
  • Teach the content and skills in English language, literature, composition, reading, and journalism to secondary students using standards based curriculum guidelines from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education that correlates with appropriate learning activities and district standards.
  • Adapts district curriculum materials and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students.

QUALIFICATIONS--REQUIRED:
  1. Education: Hold a Bachelors degree in English.
  2. Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License in English at the appropriate level and hold an SEI endorsement or or dual certification in English as a Second Language.
  3. Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.
  4. Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools as outlined above.
  5. Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS--PREFERRED:
Experience teaching in urban schools.
Degree in Education or relevant content field.
