DESCRIPTION: Promote and support the OUSD strategic plan to ensure all students are college, career, and community ready. All department members will provide support and professional development through research-based promising practices to build teacher and leader capacity in content and pedagogy to produce equitable and excellent outcomes for students in the Full Service Community Schools framework. They will develop and lead implementation of a Core Curriculum aligned to the Common Core Standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build understanding of the common core standards
Create culturally responsive libraries that value and build from students' funds of knowledge
Invest in balanced Literacy framework and leveled libraries
Work with and build capacity of teachers leaders and library clerks around the common core standards and the role of libraries in literacy development
Implement district instructional guidelines for libraries and media centers
Provide leadership in integrating technology use and automating catalogues in prek-12 library media centers
Train new and existing library staff and volunteers in organization, management, and instructional use of library/media center.
Coordinate programs and activities with community organizations
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Teacher Librarian Services Credential required
*Valid Special Class Authorization (SCA) highly desirable
Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree and experience managing a school site library or media center. Master's degree and educational technology experience desirable.
Experience working in diverse classrooms preferred.
Valid California Driver's License.
Employment eligibility that may include fingerprints, health (TB) and/or other employment clearance. *SCA is required to provide departmentalized instruction in information literacy, digital literacy, and digital citizenship to students in grades 12 and below, including preschool and in classes organized primarily for adults.
NOTE: Assignment to this position is made subject to change and/or cancellation if circumstances warrant.
