JOB TITLE : Supervisor, School Social Work Services

REPORTS TO : Coordinator, School Social Work and Responsive Student Programming

DEFINITION : Plans, coordinates, and supervises the provision of school social work services that assist students in benefiting from their individual education programs. Supervises professional staff. Ensures that all initiatives support the system-wide goals identified in Blueprint 2.0 and the BCPS Master Plan . Performs other duties as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
  • Assists the Coordinator of School Social Work and Responsive Student Programming in the supervision and program implementation of school social work services county-wide.
  • Supervises School Social Work Services, support staff and provides leadership and technical assistance in the development of practice in all areas of school social work services for students, birth through 21.
  • Coordinates the provision of Clinical Supervision as required for licensure.
  • Assists in the formulation of service guidelines in response to Maryland State Department of Education directives, legislation, and school system policies and rules.
  • Provides observational and summative evaluations of school social workers to ensure high quality service provision through the application of evidenced-based practices.
  • Collaborates with the School Social Work Team Leader to provide establish a professional development calendar and coordinate professional learning of School Social Workers.
  • Collaborates with special education staff in providing school IEP teams with training and identification guidelines to determine school social work service eligibility for students with IEPs.
  • Initiates, develops and coordinates community partnerships internal and external to BCPS to support service goals and student achievement.
  • Supervises and evaluates the job performances of the school social work team leader in support and professional learning provided to school social workers.
  • Collaborates with the Coordinator of School Social Work and Responsive Student Programming and the School Social Work Team Leader to prepare preliminary and final budget recommendations for School Social Work Services and monitors the budgetary allotments allocated to this area each year.
  • Collects service data and analyzes outcomes measures that support effective use of School Social Work Services to strategically meet the needs of students and families.
  • Performs others duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education, Training and Experience :
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Social Work.
  • Four years' experience in social work to include two years of progressively responsible leadership/management experience in areas directly related to the responsibilities in a PreK-12 educational setting.

Licenses and Certificates :
  • Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate with an Administrator I endorsement is required.
  • MSDE Certified School Social Worker, Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical and Clinical Supervisor Certification from the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners are required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
  • Thorough knowledge of IDEA including compliance, support services, and training for school staff, state legislation for students with disabilities, school social work services to students, as well as, initiatives to support the placement of students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.
  • Technology competency.
  • Knowledge of and skill in the use of database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications.
  • Knowledge of and skill in data analysis.
  • Demonstration of outstanding oral and written communications skills.
  • Demonstration of strong leadership, communication, and human relations skills.


PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :
The work of this class is generally performed both in school and office environments. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, assistive technology and occasional limited physical activities.

SALARY: Grade 10 on the BCPS CASE 12 Month payscale $87,767 - $127,860.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (State of Maryland, Senate Bill 315, effective October 1, 1986) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $67.75. An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
  • If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
  • Official transcripts for all higher education must be received prior to contract signing.
  • Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
  • All newly hired personnel must attend a Badges and Benefits session.
  • Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
