Coordinator of School, Family, Community Partnership

Salary Range - $100,000 - $115, 000 - (GRANT FUNDED)


Position Purpose
  • The Windsor Public Schools' Office of Family and Community Engagement (FCE) seeks to ensure that families, students and the community are welcomed, engaged and included as partners with WPS and each of its schools. The Office of FCE seeks to be a capacity-building catalyst for authentic, effective partnerships among students, families, schools and the community to ensure student readiness and achievement from pre-entry to post-graduation. Our work includes supporting families with information on school readiness and registration; providing updates and feedback loops for our stakeholders; building the capacity of educators and families for partnership and engagement around student learning; and, empowering parent and student voice in both the district and school-based policy decision making processes.

Essential Functions
  • Promote the WPS vision for family and student engagement within the Windsor Public Schools and greater Windsor community;Be knowledgeable about WPS policies, practices, and regulations related to the engagement of families and students (including English Language Learners, special education and dropout prevention) and act as a resource to schools, families and students to ensure compliance;Oversee and supervise the Welcome Center and District Registration process for WPS.Oversee and support all core elements of the Windsor Public Schools FCE plan;Develop and oversee school level programming including but not limited to before and after school learning opportunities, school vacation and summer sessions;Supervise the Tree House before and after school program including all program staff. Evaluate program leaders and bookkeeper, develop and manage budgets, insure compliant with the state and federal guidelines, provide required professional development, recruit staff and participants, develop age appropriate programming, provide for inclusion of IDEA/504 students within guidelines;Supervise and coordinate the work of the five Family Resource Centers to include evaluation, professional development, programming and data collection;Support schools to build their capacity to develop and foster productive partnerships that facilitate positive family and community relationships with the Office of Family and Community Engagement;Provide promotional and school-based support for the implementation of the WPS District-wide School Climate Survey;Provide strategic and logistical support for community engagement efforts at the school, network and district level;Provide supports for schools as they implement transition events and activities, such as kindergarten transition, Welcome Sessions for incoming students and school showcases;Review School Improvement Plans to identify strategies and supports to build positive climates and effective engagement practice in schools;Collect and maintain accurate data to document outcomes and impact of family engagement activities at the school and district level;Understand and analyze school performance/assessment data and recommend aligned engagement strategies;Work with consultants to conduct community mapping to identify resources to support schools, families and students;Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure coherence between the school-based (family/student) engagement work, the community engagement work and other engagement initiatives;Proactively establish a network of contacts with relevant local figures and organizations that can support schools in engaging families and students:Proactively seek out resources, research and information on models and strategies in other districts; changes in the field of family and student engagement; and share new learning with colleagues;Participate in regular reviews of district policies and research on best practices related to family and student engagement;Develop school-to-work partnerships between local business partners and school system;Serve as the District Liaison to the Windsor Education Foundation. Coordinate with the WEF the distribution of their Teacher Incentive Grants on a yearly basis;Responsibilities and tasks related to leading ad hoc committees;Work directly with families to resolve concerns and/or provide resources;

Additional Duties
  • Perform other related family engagement duties as requested by the Superintendent.

Travel Requirements
  • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Qualifications Profile

Certification/License :
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation

Education :
  • Master's Degree required, preferably in Counseling, Psychology, or related field and work experience

Experience :
  • Proven track record in building relationships with various stakeholders and implementing effective engagement strategies/practice at the school levelSuccessful experience working with culturally and socio-economically diverse communitiesExperience in developing and/or leading interactive workshops and trainings
