POSITION SUMMARY
MOT Charter is a small school on a mission to provide a 21st century learning experience to our
students. Teachers and staff at MOT Charter are passionate learners, focused on maximizing our
students' ability to solve problems and contribute to their communities as enlightened and responsible
citizens. MOT Charter practices a restorative model to address behavioral issues with the intent to
promote growth and build empathy among our students.
The Dean of Students holds primary responsibility for attendance and discipline. This position requires
a collaboration with the Principal of the K8 Academy to develop and assist in training of staff, students,
and families and assisting all members of the MOT Charter community with building positive
relationships.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
?h Share a commitment to the success of the mission, goals, and objectives of the MOT Charter
School.

?h Live out the school's mission, vision and goals.
?h Establish a professional rapport with students and with staff that earns their respect.
?h Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with
students, parents, school personnel, and agencies associated with the school.
?h Serve as a role model for students by dressing professionally, accepting responsibility for your
actions, and demonstrating good sportsmanship, the importance of learning, and pride in the
education profession.
?h Inspire confidence in students and families.
?h Develop an open and trusting relationship among faculty, students and community members.
?h Observe and follow all Board policies and all procedures and policies as outlined in the MOT
Charter School Employee Manual.
?h Display personal qualities that reflect favorably upon you and the school. Share responsibility
for professional, cooperative staff relations and for activities important to the operation of the
school.
?h Conduct oneself according to professional, ethical principles.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
?h Establish high, concrete behavioral objectives for students.
?h Monitor student attendance and communicate with parents through phone, email and letters to
address attendance concerns. Communicate those concerns with the Principal of the K8
Campus.
?h File truancy complaints and attend court as the LEA representative when needed.
?h Assist teachers with the identification of behavioral impacts of behaviors of students and
develop strategies to support the student, teacher, and the classroom
?h Supervise recess aids/lunchroom aids; provide training and support to implement our
disciplinary philosophy and policies.
?h Determine student consequences and supervise afterschool detentions and other disciplinary
actions that require direct supervision.
?h Attend home visits with the Principal or other appropriate staff as needed.
?h Investigate incidents of behavior and bullying and communicate to all necessary parties.
?h Enter all behavioral incidents into the eschool reporting system.
?h Attend mandatory trainings related to the position including Mandatory School climate
Discipline Reporting.
?h Provide support for classroom teachers and staff with students in immediate need of assistance.
?h Participate in bus driver training and be a consistent resource of support for drivers with
student's behaviors and establishing a positive bus culture.
?h Attend events and programs that supports the school vision and mission to provide a safe,
nurturing environment where all students learn and flourish.
?h Facilitate 504 Plan Meetings as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
?h Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in curriculum & instruction,
leadership, education, or a related field.
?h Five years of successful classroom experience.
?h Successful prior building level leadership experience.
?h Five years' relevant work experience with high school students
?h Excellent organizational skills and the ability to motivate people
OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
?h Strong written/verbal communication skills
?h Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
?h Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook and in the use of a student information system
?h Ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools
