About this role....
As the Content Production Specialist, you will serve as a member of the Content Production team within Content Services. You will support item and test production by performing such activities as copyediting, quality control, and creating supporting materials, procedures, and documentation for content production. You will ensure all internal needs related to item production are addressed quickly and comprehensively, and work collaboratively with other members of the Content Production team to do so. In addition, you will further serve as an internal expert to guide contractors in Content Production work when needed.

About the Content Services team....
The Content Services team develops, produces and publishes content for the full range of NWEA product offerings. It leverages an array of expertise across content and production staff to perform the assessment development functions, as well as the management of outside contractors and vendors.

Your next challenge....
• The Content Production Specialist is expected to specialize in item production responsibilities, with expertise in copy editing and functional proficiency/capacity to perform in other areas of content production.
Item production
o Write and review alternate item text descriptors (e.g., alt attribute tagging) to increase accessibility for visual media in items
o Review items for potential bias or sensitivity issues
o Conduct research related to item issues in tests
o Validate item display to ensure conformity to item style standards
o Ensure appropriate use of formatting and publication standards required for item content
Permissions focus
o Ensure published assets contain proper attribution and copyright owners have granted permission to use protected materials
o Provide review to ensure the absence of plagiarism in content and to ascertain permissions status
o Gain and apply knowledge of copyright and intellectual property laws, trends, and innovations in education and publishing and apply this knowledge in the workplace
Copy edit focus
o Copy edit test items for grammar, spelling, punctuation, usage, and syntax errors
o Research and elevate copy edit issues and challenges as they arise
Technical and process focus
o Understand existing workflows for item development and system limitations to customize for specific item production needs
o Serve as an internal expert for matters related to item updates (individual and batch) and development within the item editor, including metadata fields and usage when relevant to production work
• Provide regular communication around task progress, risks and issues to Sr. Content Production Specialist, Content Production Manager and any other necessary stakeholder.
• Inform changes and improvements to the test and item building and development systems, including providing requirements, completing user acceptance testing, and providing iterative feedback

Education and experience
• Bachelor's degree in a related field required; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
• Minimum two years' related experience; experience in assessment, educational publishing and/or editing preferred.
• Experience or demonstrated interest in the field of education preferred
