POSITION SUMMARY :
The ESOL Teacher Coach works with ESOL and content-area teachers, central office staff and school-based administrators. ESOL coaches are assigned to support specific schools and coordinate workshops. The ESOL coach is responsible for assisting teachers in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of English Language Learners. The ESOL Coach meets weekly with the ESOL Instructional Specialist and reports to the ESOL Supervisor.

This position is a PGCEA, Table A, 10-Month Position
Salary Range: $47,781 to $103,819

Detailed Description:
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Establishing positive working relationships with administrators and staff of new and current ESOL schools;
Conducting needs assessments to determine type of training and resources new and current ESOL schools require;
Providing on-going training and other types of support to classroom teachers at new ESOL schools;
Developing and coordinating workshops, trainings and action-based research projects;
Consulting with content teachers of ESOL students in order to differentiate instruction;
Assisting in procuring and utilizing resources;
Modeling lessons using effective ESOL strategies;
Aligning curriculum with Maryland Common Core and WiDA standards;
Integrating technology into ESOL instruction; and
Working with testing team to assess English Language Learners upon intake and annually.
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS :
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Experience in planning and conducting in-service training and staff development initiatives;
Excellent organizational skills;
Strong technological skills (able to use Microsoft Office, including Excel, Power Point, and Word); and
Documented effective human relations skills, leadership experience preferred.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree required from an accredited institution; with minimum of three (3) years of ESOL teaching experience required.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Advanced Certification in ESOL.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
