POSITION TITLE: Grade 4 Teacher (IPS Center for Inquiry International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme Magnet Teacher)
PRIMARY Work collaboratively with other teachers to plan and implement an
FUNCTION: inquiry-based model International Baccalaureate curriculum and build community within the classroom and school program.

Certification: A valid State of Indiana Elementary Teacher's License is required.

JOB DUTIES:
The successful candidate will be required to take part in staff and curriculum development workshops and IB training during the summer and/or after school hours.
After school activities during the school year will not exceed four (4) hours per week.
SALARY: IPS teacher's salary scale in accordance with training and experience, plus designated services contract throughout the school year as required.
EFFECTIVE DATE: 2016-17 school year.

- Candidates that already have a certificate from IB attesting to training in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program and/or have teaching experience within an IB candidate or fully-authorized school will receive priority over candidates without IB training/experience.
- A personal instructional philosophy that is compatible with that of the Center for Inquiry Option program is required.
- Training and experience in the following are required:
- inquiry-based, process-centered curriculum
- the use of literature based instruction and the writing process.
- differentiated instruction, cooperative learning, student learning styles, collegial teaching/team building
- computer-integrated technology in the teaching/learning process
- development of IB unit planners in the PYP program including performance based assessments
- Responsive Classroom training
Preferred -
- A minimum of three (3) years' successful teaching experience preferred.
- A Master's degree preferred.
Demonstrated Skills:
- Ability to address multi-cultural, racial, gender, and economic diversity and support an international focus within the curriculum.
- Ability to use an interdisciplinary curriculum to provide appropriate and motivating educational experiences.
- Ability to collaborate with a variety of people, as well as other CFI IB Magnet Program teachers to coordinate curriculum development, instruction and student support services.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences.
- Proficiency in the development and writing of the curriculum.
- Ability to evaluate students using alternative forms of assessment.
- Ability to work in an inclusive environment.
- Experience with or willingness to engage in co-teaching.
JOB DUTIES:
- Maintain a model classroom environment supportive of student inquiry and aligned with the Primary Years Program of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
- Establish an educational environment with an international focus that provides opportunities for students to develop leadership skills and positive self-images.
- Work with each of the other teachers in the CFI Magnet Program to plan themes and projects for interdisciplinary instruction aligned with IB
- Actively encourage parent involvement in the educational process.
- Actively seek and use community resources to enhance the instructional program.
- Willingly participate in innovative instructional and assessment activities including the design and preparation of proposals and reports.
- As part of a demonstration site, graciously accept visitors and observers to the classroom and mentor university interns.
- Participate in IB training, which includes traveling to regional sites.
- Participate in all staff and curriculum development workshops, and professional reading groups, sometimes held during the summer and/or outside of the regular instructional day.
