Essential Functions and Objectives:

Teach diverse high school students career & technical courses as outlined in the school's program approval. The Career Tech Instructor facilitates student learning in specific content areas aligned with the Colorado Career Cluster Model. Instruction is project-based. The CTE Instructor will also assist in facilitating internships, job shadows, mentorships and/or college visits. *See specific position objectives for each content.

As part of TechConnect, the Computer Science Programming pathway is designed to develop student skills in basic computer functions, web and app development and problem solving to prepare students for careers in software development and more. This instructor will teach classes in computer science, video game design, software engineering, cybersecurity, robotics, web/app design and AP computer sciences.

Essential Functions:

- Present subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style

- Counsel students to encourage and support student achievement and career planning.

- Monitor, supervise, coordinate and enforce rule of conduct and behavior of assigned students; and reinforce positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.

- Observe, evaluate, report and record students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.

- Prepare educational course outlines, objectives and materials according to curriculum guidelines and/or state and local requirements.

- Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).

- Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students.

- Prepare, administer, assign and grade tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.

- Collect and use data regularly from formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and future planning.

- Prepare student, attendance and activity reports as required by administrators.

- Communicate with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems and coordinate instructional efforts.

- Maintain program compliance with program approval, to include advising for the appropriate career & technical student organization and maintaining a program advisory committee.

- Maintain and supervise use of any lab/technology equipment and document operational status
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Credential Requirements:

- Must possess a CTE endorsement in Information Technology.

- May need to attend Project Lead the Way (PLTW) or other training during summer or during year

- Preferred: Concurrent Enrollment requirements - Masters degree or masters +18 hours in the appropriate content

Education & Experience Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree in related field required for certain content areas

- Professional industry experience in content area within past 7 years.

- Adjunct status with a community college in content area strongly preferred.

- Tech/web development background preferred.
