Essential Functions and Objectives:

Coordinates and facilitates the delivery of school nursing services to manage the medical needs of students with chronic/infectious/nuisance health conditions. Serves as a liaison between primary health providers, parents, students and school administrators and school nurses. The position will increase school nursing services in schools with minimal school nurse coverage and bridge the gaps by expediting school health services to students with chronic health conditions and disabilities. Provides consultation to DPS school nurses, school leaders and unlicensed health care providers, in 504 plans, and/or IEPS for students with significant/chronic health conditions. Provide direct services to students in the absence of the school nurse and facilitate delegation, ongoing training and supervision of both licensed and unlicensed health care. Lead in organizing nursing supports to summer programs.

- Has deep knowledge of culturally relevant practices, and uses data driven decision making to improve services to best impact student achievement. Responsible for data management system for chronic diseases and utilizes data to improve services.

- Lead in organizing nursing supports to summer programs.

- Models customer service to school staff, central staff, and students.

People & Culture:

- Develops professional learning on chronic health conditions and other nursing services. Is a positive role model for building level nurses.

- Reviews customer service data and student health data to improve services. Serves as collaborative team member and leader in nursing.

Community & Equity:

- Collaborates with before and after school programs, local hospitals, school based health clinics and medical programs.

- Ensure decisions promote equity for all students, particularly students of color and students struggling to be successful due to health issues, by having a social justice lens. Provides training and support to students and parents.

- Establishes and fosters successful cross functional relationships that strengthen the work of the team and schools and promote positive student outcomes.

Knowledge & Other Qualifications:

- Demonstrates the ability to communicate orally and in writing to diverse groups of stakeholders.

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to collaborate with building leaders.

- Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and fast based environment.

- Knowledge of school nursing, chronic diseases.

- Experience providing staff coaching and support.

- Experience with data analyze and data driven decision making.

- Strong voice for social justice and equity.

- Ability to provide innovative solutions to challenging situations.

- Knowledgeable of professional school nursing practice standards and demonstrate sound critical thinking skills.

- P resents a strong professional presence that exemplifies competency, integrity and credibility.

- S erves as a role model for all stakeholders.

- B ilingual preferred.

Licensure Requirements:

- Department of Regulatory Agencies RN License

- Professional Special Services Provider License with Birth to 21 endorsement as a School Nurse through the Colorado of Education

Education & Experience Requirements:

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing Masters in Nursing or a related field

- Preferred Master's in Nursing

- Minimum 5 years School Nurse Experience

- M inimum 3 years program development preferred.

- Minimum 2 years experience in a Leadership role.
