The Special Education Manager supports a regional portfolio of schools in the areas of special education student academic achievement through targeted ELA support and Critical Student Intervention (CSI). The Special Education Manager will ensure consistent and quality coaching, training, and data debrief support for special education teachers in his/her region through building strong business partnerships with regional leaders and academic service team members.

Accountabilities:

Ensure successful implementation of CSI in assigned region so that 50% of CSI students grow 2.0 years in Reading and/or Math.

* Ability to read and interpret data in order to prioritize high leverage next action steps

* Conduct field observations of CSI classrooms at campuses in your region to increase student achievement data.

* Ensure delivery of high quality trainings for CSI based on specific regional needs.

* Deeply understand the CSI model, last year's results, and priorities for improvement within the first month of hire

* Maintain a positive working relationship with National Institute for Direct Instruction (NIFDI) as a partner in our CSI programming

60% of special education students in assigned region meet passing standard on LEAP ELA/Math exams.

* Partner with ELA curriculum writers to ensure scaffolding strategies for ELA are created for Special Education/general education teacher use

* Ensure training supports via webinars, course collaborations are available for Special Education teachers working with ELA content subjects.

* Create a collaborative working environment between Special Education and general education teachers

* Help create high quality content mastery courses that focus on scaffolding ELA content in order for students to be able to successfully access the curriculum in general education.

85% Special Education teacher retention from August to August

* Partner with staffing team to design and execute regional teacher retention strategy

* Monitor campus culture and partner with lead teams to coach and retain teachers

* Build relationships with teachers and communicate TCP initiatives

* Assist campus leaders in hiring high quality certified special education teachers who understand and are committed to IDEAs Special Education service delivery model.

100% of students receiving special education services are coded in eSped and PIEMS by Snapshot date

* Reviews PIEMS and eSped reports regularly to track all meetings held

* Sort all reports by student, tracks that all reports are received, and notifies special education manager of missing information on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month

* Inputs all Individual Education Plan (IEP) information into PIEMS accurately weekly

100% of new students' special education records are received within the 1st 30 days of school or within 30 school days if enrolled after the 1st day of school

* Review list of new students receiving special education services and ensure that the Release of Records form has been signed by the parent

* Tracks Release of Records forms that are received, and notifies special education manager of missing forms on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month

* Request student records from previous district using Texas Records Exchange (TREx) and eSped

Maintain 100% of special education eligibility folders to stay in compliance and meet auditing requirements

* File all correspondences, records and reports in student eligibility folders

* Maintains accurate student records, moving students from active to inactive status if needed

* Perform periodic audits of eligibility folders to ensure compliance with federal and state statutes and regulatory requirements

* Upon written request, release student information from special education eligibility folders to requesting district or agency in accordance with FERPA guidelines and department procedures

Required Skills

* Bachelor's degree required, Master's Degree preferred

* At least 2 years of teacher experience required

* Proven success with Special Education student achievement

* ELA content knowledge a plus

* Louisiana teaching certificate

* Special Education teaching certificate preferred
