Position Summary:

Mastery Charter Schools seeks a highly skilled leader and manager to serve as the network's Director of Student Activities (DSA). The Director is responsible for building systems that enable our school-based staff to effectively plan, execute, and manage a robust set of extra-curricular programs for our middle school and high school students. Extracurricular activities include, but are not limited to, sports, academic competitions, performing arts, student government, service clubs, and publications such as a student-produced newspaper and yearbook. Ultimately, the goal of the DSA is to provide students with meaningful opportunities to gain exposure to diverse activities, build self-esteem, and develop quality relationships with peers and adults, while making a contribution to the school community. The DSA will drive towards this goal through the creation of innovative partnerships with mission-aligned external partners (e.g., theater groups) and strong coordination with school leaders and staff.

This position is an amazing opportunity for a visionary leader - the opportunity to create a best-in-class Districtwide student programming strategy that will transform the lives of 1000's of young people. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a relentless commitment to excellence and will share a deep belief in Mastery's mission. The right candidate will have a track record of promoting access and equity for all students. The ideal candidate will confidently advocate for and communicate the important personal developmental benefits that result from organized student activities. The ideal candidate must be a strategic thinker as well as high-capacity, high quality executer. The DCA reports directly to the COO and is a senior member of Mastery's Network Support team.

As a senior leader at Mastery, the DSA will create balanced, positive programming for middle school and high school students. In order to maximize the positive impact for students, the DSA will need to gauge student and school interest, review existing programming, and assist schools in adjusting programming where appropriate.
