Impact Prep is an innovative public middle school in the Springfield, Massachusetts community. About the Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership

In 2015, the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and Springfield Public Schools partnered to form the Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership (SEZP). SEZP is committed to ensuring that the middle and high schools in "The Zone" are engaging environments where teachers receive the supports they need to grow professionally, and students have the opportunity to acquire the academic and personal skills to succeed in the college or career of their choice.

Each SEZP school has the autonomy to craft and implement its own, unique vision for success and receives support from an ecosystem of national-caliber partners. Furthermore, Teacher Leadership Teams at each school ensure that teacher voice is heard and that there is strong communication between school administration and staff.

Operations Manager ResponsibilitiesLeadership:

The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that the school is able to run smoothly so that students and other staff members have a great learning environment. Specifically, the Operations Manager is responsible for the following:

Ensuring compliance with all SEZP, Springfield, state, and federal requirements

Supporting the principal and other staff with financial matters (e.g., budget, payroll, processing of purchasing, contracts)

Managing the school's physical plant

Coordinating with SPS personnel regarding any physical plant challenges/problems

Overseeing transportation, food services, health, and safety

Managing technology in the building and coordinating

Leading event logistics (for assemblies, field trips, etc.)

Coordinating visitor procedures

Working closely with SEZP, SPS, and others to ensure effective communication and timely completion of all logistical matters

Leading professional development training on positive school culture, effective classroom management, and other topics

Working closely with school leaders to help insure a positive staff culture; addressing challenges in staff culture positively and assertively

Developing positive relationships with family members and the community

Serving as a representative of the school to the community; working with staff members to insure that families are well-informed about what is happening in school and have other opportunities to interact positively with the school

Supervise public areas (such as hallways and other public spaces) when appropriate to reinforce school behavior expectations

REQUIRED:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Excellent organizational abilities

A track record of success working with students and adults

High expectations for self and others, and a willingness to hold self and others accountable to these expectations

Exceptional ability to lead people and manage complex projects

Ability to organize workload independently and set priorities; to adapt quickly to changing priorities; and perform multiple interrelated tasks under deadline pressures

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong interpersonal skills

Effectiveness at building strong relationships with students and families

Strong strategic thinking and problem solving capabilities

Commitment to professional growth and regularly seeking out opportunities to improve leadership practice

Belief and alignment with SEZP's core beliefs and philosophy, including the belief that each and every child can excel academically

HIGHLY DESIRED (but not required):

Relevant advanced degree

Understanding and experience working with the nuances of urban school environments and school culture

At least five years of experience working in schools

Bilingual speaking, reading, and writing abilities (Spanish)

Benefits

SEZP offers a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; salaries for new teachers start at $49,000. Teachers in SEZP qualify for benefits (personal/sick days, health insurance, etc.) offered to other teachers in the Springfield Public Schools.
