QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree, or minimum of 7 classes (21 hours) towards completion of Master's degree in education or related field, required
• Master's degree will be required within first year of employment
• Valid Texas Teaching Certification required
• Minimum of three years of experience teaching elementary (K-6), with one year in special education or general education in an inclusive setting (Co-Teach/In-Class Support), required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, required
• Demonstrated knowledge of best practices, related to the implementation of district initiatives for inclusive practices, required
• Demonstrated knowledge in special education law, policies, and procedures required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both orally and in writing, required

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work will be done in a variety of settings as indicated by the needs of the students. Frequent travel to various locations in the District is required. Assignments require the employee to work with identified students in school settings. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and lift and/or move up to 100 plus pounds with assistance. Standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing and pulling may be required in this position. Must be able to handle situations that may be volatile or stressful at times. Ability to see close up, at a distance and peripherally, ability to physically restrain disruptive students, ability to reach above the head or straight out from body, ability to stand continuously for long periods of time.

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY

The Program Specialist, Elementary Resource/Inclusive Services, will work in collaboration with the Program Manager, Special Education Elementary Resource/Inclusive Services and campus staff to implement and monitor special education inclusive programming in grades K-6. The incumbent will provide strong leadership in promoting the District's and department's vision of special education services in the school district and community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement and monitor appropriate instructional and behavioral services for students in resource/inclusive settings
• Lead and support in the creation and maintenance of modified and alternative activities in district data management system
• Develop curriculum modifications and model differentiated instructional strategies
• Use Full and Individual Evaluation(FIE)/Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) to develop appropriate Present Level of Academic and Functional Performance (PLAAFP), goals, Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), and programming for students
• Analyze and utilize campus data to develop campus support plans
• Attend and facilitate Admission Review Dismissal (ARD) meetings to provide guidance to the campus staff, parents, and students
• Collaborate with other departments in the district to align initiatives, activities and training
• Develop and deliver professional development for district and campus staff, as well as monitor and support the implementation of professional development activities
• Lead campuses in completing the Student Centered Decision Making Process and make staffing projections based on data
• Collaborate with the business office to provide appropriate and timely Medicaid reimbursement data and reporting
• Assist in the hiring process of special education staff
• Serve as a resource to administration in the implementation of special education services for students
• Promote the District's vision of implementing inclusive services, including utilizing evidence-based supports to maintain students in their least restrictive environments and utilize high quality instruction and monitor the student's outcomes in an effort to support a transition to a less restrictive environment as appropriate when students are served in special education settings
• Remain current on best practices, special education law, policies, and procedures
• Support the District and department goals
• Perform other duties as assigned
