Paraprofessional/Teacher's Aide (Part-Time Employment)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Employment Term: 10 months/Full-Time
***THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION, 29 HOURS WEEKLY***
Job Goal: A Paraprofessional (Teacher's Aide) works under the supervision of the classroom teacher and serves as a support person in the classroom. They provide appropriate services to the students, helping to implement suggested educational activities and in monitoring student behavior.
Essential Functions:
- Assist teachers with the logistics of instructions. Including passing out books, supplies, attendance, and making copies.
- Assist teachers in monitoring student's work behavior.
- Monitors children during lunch and recess.
- Assists with movement of children through hallways and onto and off buses.
- Assists teachers with reinforcing instruction and small group learning. This includes working with individuals or small groups of students, administering tests, grading tests and homework.
- Perform other duties and/or complete special projects as assigned.
- An Associate's degree or at least 48 postsecondary education credits; or the successful completion of a state or locally developed assessment in reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Previous work with inner city youth a plus.
- Secure three background checks: PA State Criminal, PA Child Abuse, FBI Fingerprinting
