ELEMENTARY SUPERVISORS -- MATH, ESL (2 positions)

The Danbury Public Schools currently serve nearly 11,000 students across 13 elementary schools, three middle schools, a comprehensive High School, and an alternative high school. In order to provide elementary instruction across the district that meets the District's goals and coherence plan, implementing the curriculum with fidelity across diverse locations, three elementary level supervisors will provide support in the following areas: 1 math supervisor, 1 literacy supervisor, and 1 ESL supervisor. Each Supervisor has responsibility for oversight of the provision of content based curriculum at designated school sites, teaming with Building Administrators to oversee effective planning, organization and direction. Each Supervisor will partner with individual building administrators to conduct observations, to provide coaching services and to assess effectiveness for individually identified certified staff members.

Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Supervision and Management of Instructional Programs in District
  • Implements and supervises the instructional program at the elementary level in designated sites.
  • Works cooperatively with administrative and instructional staff to insure program effectiveness, including the efffective use of resources
  • Organizes and uses an evaluation process to improve program service delivery.
  • Sets objectives and communicates them with administrative staff staff in each school, in keeping with District objectives.
  • Serves as a resource in matters relating to methods, materials, goals and objectives.
  • Identifies and selects annual building-wide program improvement goals
  • Integrates and monitors new programs and changes to existing programs
  • Assists the Curriculum Administrator of Elementary Education to effectively implement the District Intervention Programs and the SRBI process.
  • Supervision of Personnel
  • Supervises, observes, and evaluates assigned certified staff in keeping with the District's Teacher Evaluation Plan.
  • Engages in intensive support where necessary, and participates in administration of disciplinary action where appropriate.
  • Oversees provision of professional development services as needed, including presenting resources to staff.
  • Assists in the selection, hiring and orientation of new hires
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    1. Certification: 092 Intermediate Administration and Supervision. Additional 013 Elementary K-6, 305 Elementary Grades 1-6 or equivalent and/or content based specialization reflected in any of the following areas: 102 Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts Grades 1-12; 229 Math Middle School Grades 4-8; 111 Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), PK-12
    2. Strong organizational and presentation skills
    3. Supervisory or leadership experience in the school setting, including but not limited to one or more of the following: data team, instructional leadership team, group leader, lead teacher or similar.
    4. Familiarity with the implementation and administration of Teacher Evaluation Plans (Marzano or similar experience preferred)
    5. Demonstrated commitment to implementation of literacy, math, or ESL programming with fidelity at the elementary level. Familiarity with Readers and Writers' Workshop or Math Interventions, as applicable preferred.
    6. Experience in student data analysis. Familiarity with DataWise or similar preferred.
    7. Experience with budget management and grant writing considered
    8. Strong technology skills, including familiarity with student data management systems such as PowerSchool.

    Terms of Employment: Starting salary of $122,063 in accordance with negotiated agreement with the Danbury School Administrators Association. This position has a 206-day work year.
