JOB TITLE: Classroom Paraprofessional
LOCATION: Alice Terry Elementary School

SCHEDULE: Work hours are 7.5/day, Monday - Friday.
WORK STATUS: Classified, Hourly Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Principal

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will be providing small group reading and math support to K-2 students at Alice Terry Elementary School.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Small group instruction for K-2 students in need of reading and math support.
• Co-planning, delivering, and reflecting upon daily lesson plans.
• Working with teachers to collaboratively analyze instructional needs, growth, and achievement.
• Providing additional instructional supports as needed for students in 1:1 and small group settings.
• Commitment to participating in school-based committees and groups as needed.
• Collaboratively working with other staff to provide research-based instruction.
• Will monitor students during lunch and recess.
• Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Required
High School diploma or G.E.D. Must also meet NCLB requirements by having one of the following:

• At least 48 credit hours completed at an institute of higher education; OR
• An Associate's (or higher) degree; OR
• Must be able to demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in reading, writing, and math. Testing is administered through the School District.

Preferred

• Bilingual Spanish/English desirable.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions required the following physical demands: some lifting up to 20 pounds, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling: and signification fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires sitting, walking, and standing. This job is performed in generally a clean and healthy environment.

CLEARANCE:
Must clear online background check and FBI Fingerprint check through Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

SALARY:
Initial salary placement on Class 1 of the Paraprofessional Salary Schedule and is $12.19 - $13.66 hour based upon previous related experience.

Please note: This is an at-will position with the Sheridan School District. The annual salary for this position will be determined by number of hours scheduled to work each day and number of days scheduled to work each year. The computed annual salary will be spread out in equal payments over 12 months. Sheridan School District employees are paid once a month on the 1st working day of the month that is not a weekend day or holiday.

BENEFITS:
Employees who are scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week in the 2017/2018 school year are eligible to obtain district health benefits which include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance and supplemental benefits. Positions that qualify for health benefits also qualify for leave which could include vacation and daily leave to be determined by the position and number of days assigned. Sheridan School District No. 2 is a public employer and participates in the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA). All employees are required by statute to contribute 8% of salary on a pre-tax basis to PERA. The District also contributes a 20.15% in addition to the employee contribution.
