To coordinate an efficient operation of the Child Nutrition Program at the Delmar School District by supervising the cafeteria staff as well as planning and implementing all food service needs of the students, staff and administration of the District. This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

- High School Diploma (or GED)
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in school nutrition programs
- At least 3 years of experience in management and supervision
- Lift and carry
JOB GOAL
To coordinate an efficient operation of the Child Nutrition Program at the Delmar School District by supervising the cafeteria staff as well as planning and implementing all food service needs of the students, staff and administration of the District. This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES
Program Management
- Develop & implement menus, coordinate recipes.
- Complete and submit all documentation necessary to maintain the district's NSB & NSL programs as required by the DOE and the USDA.
- Attend pertinent meetings as established by DOE, the board of education and other meetings relevant to the execution of the NSB and NSL programs.
- Administer Free and Reduced Breakfast/Lunch program.
- Develop, implement and comply with all state and federal licensing and sanitation regulations, such as HAACP and sanitation procedures for the NSB and NSL programs.
- Work with district administration to execute special events.
- Assist teaching staff with nutritional education goals as requested.
- Complete and maintain production and quality assurance records.
- Develop, implement and maintain a separation of duties plan related to cash flow, cash management and inventory.
- Develop, implement and maintain an internal controls plan related to cash flow, cash management and inventory.
- Identify, implement and maintain an inventory solution to support the separations of duty and internal control plans.
Financial Management
- Prepare daily receivables, reviewing for accuracy.
- Prepare, distribute and reconcile invoices for special events.
- Procure commodity items, food and non-food materials to meet food service needs that comply with state and federal procurement regulations.
- Periodically review vendor pricing and research purchasing options for optimal pricing opportunities.
- Establish retail pricing for NSB, NSL and a la carte items to meet financial requirements.
- Work with purchasing Co-op group to test new products, reevaluate existing bid items and make additions.
- Review vendor invoices for accuracy.
- Provide accurate records and reports to business manager to create monthly financial statements.
- Assist in the completion of a bi-annual report as required by DOE.
Facilities Management
- Work with school administration to ensure adequate seating for student enrollment.
- Determine facility needs for purchase of equipment and smallwares.
- Have preventative maintenance of equipment done in a timely manner.
- Establish and implement safety standards and security measures in the kitchen and dining area.
Personnel Management
- Supervise daily operations of all child nutrition staff members.
- Create written job descriptions and employment manual for department.
- Provide training opportunities and refreshers to all staff members.
- Recruit qualified candidates in the instance of open position.
- Maintain an "open door" policy for resolving conflict and disputes.
- Maintain accurate personnel and time keeping records
- Apply disciplinary action as outlined in employment manual.
- Perform annual evaluations of all department members.
Marketing & Communications
- Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with administration, state agencies, parents, students and staff.
- Develop programs to educate students, staff and community about the benefits of the NSB and NSL programs.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding updates and changes to the program.
Professional Development
- Maintain Serv-Safe certification
- Complete required food service units or the training equivalent of in the areas of production, preparation, safety, sanitation, storage, training, budgetary, and inventory control involved in a food service program.
- Work towards School Nutrition Association credentialing.
EVALUATION PROCESS

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Satisfactory Child Protection Registry
- Mantoux skin test/PPD documentation
- The State of Delaware requires all public school employees to undergo a criminal background check (state and federal) to determine suitability for employment.
- Appointment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory criminal background check, which is the responsibility of the employee.
- The State of Delaware requires new employees to be paid by direct deposit and to be part of a lag payroll system as conditions of employment.
- This is a 10+ month position. The salary and work year will be established by the Delmar Board of Education.
