Position Summary:

The full-time Food Operations Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of the school nutrition program and contracted food service management companies. The Food Operations Manager reports to the Network Director of Operations and is a part of the Network Support Team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manages the relationship between Mastery schools and Food Service Management Companies (FSMCs) on a daily basis

Serves as the main point of contact for all site-based Operations team members for service level issues

Directs weekly in-person check-ins with FSMC and site-based Operations team

Ensures the successful completion of all Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Administrative Reviews of food programming

Responsible for successful completion of any required PDE trainings/certifications

Coordinates all menu planning, in conjunction with FSMCs, including introducing strategies for how to increase and improve student feeding patterns

Serves as the quality checkpoint for menu and nutrition implementation

Manages the PDE online National School Lunch Program website, focusing on compliance and applications

Anticipates and recognizes potential kitchen challenges at sites and work with FSMC to quickly create solutions

Designs and oversees kitchen summer refresh checklist for school sites preparing for a new school year, leading continuous readiness evaluations of current kitchens within the consortium Establish a kitchen environment schedule, creating an inspection checklist to survey kitchen areas, review items for repair, and proactively prepare for health inspections/audits

Organizes equipment repair preventative maintenance schedule, working with building engineers and facility directors

Completes additional duties, as designated by the Network Director of Operations

Required Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Ability to learn new systems/software quickly

Proven experience multi-tasking, organizing and prioritizing work

Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with various campus teams and FSMC leaders

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong analytical / problem solving, quickly adapting to unpredictable challenges

Strong ability to establish relationship with peers across a large organization

Experience working in a school setting preferred

Ability to navigate multiple stakeholders across a large organization including principals, teachers, parents, and community members

Ability to travel among sites for in-person meetings

Education and Experience:

Associate's/Bachelor's Degree with at least of two (2) years of related experience

Experience working in an urban education setting, preferred

Physical Requirements:

Ability to physically perform the duties required and to work in the environmental conditions required such as maneuvering in an office space-reaching file cabinets, filing, faxing, scanning, coping, typing, mailing, and making phone calls; Must be able to sit for up to four (4) hours looking at a computer monitor, using a keyboard and mouse and typing; Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs
