The High School Teacher is a highly qualified, State certified teacher responsible for delivering specific course content in an on-line environment. Teachers provide instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs. Teachers monitor student progress through K12's learning management system, and they work actively with students and parents to advance each child's learning.

Specifically need a High School Teacher with a Career Technical Education Certification required in Health Science. This is a part-time position: 20 hours a week.
AS A High School Health Sciences CTE Teacher, YOU WILL..
  • Learn the entire K12 curriculum for assigned grade levels and is able to demonstrate knowledge of how State standards align with it
  • Understand how both diverse and unique characteristics of students and their families impact required support
  • Augment course content according to prescribed policies and procedures using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools
  • Orient students to their course, communicate requirements, set and enforce deadlines, maintain regular office hours and conduct instructional sessions
  • Take ownership for student's academic progress and attendance, communicate high expectations and show an active interest in student's achievement, establish and maintain a positive rapport with families, conduct conferences with students and parents (or other responsible adults), provide individualized instruction to help each students achieve K12 curricular objectives
  • Support parents with student curricular and instructional issues, balance the flexibility of the K12 curriculum with Academy policies and procedures, organize social and educational activities for students and families, including sponsorship of at least one (1) virtual club
  • Grade student work and maintains grade book, alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress, maintain regular contact with students and families via the Virtual Classroom Environment
  • Create and manage a home office; support students with the set-up and maintenance of their learning environment; support students through basic computer troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with peers in order to provide a positive experience for students
  • Build community by contributing to school message boards, newsletters and events
  • Travel to and participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions
  • Maintain records regarding students in accordance with school policy and State requirements; prepare reports regarding students and classroom matters as directed
  • Help staff Help Line, provide direct instruction and participates in committees as required
  • Adapt to change, be open to new ideas, take on new responsibilities, handle pressure, and adjust plans to meet changing needs
  • Deal with others in a straightforward and honest manner, be accountable for actions, maintain confidentiality, support company values, and convey good news and bad
  • Meet all team deadlines and responsibilities, listen to others and values opinions, help team leader to meet goals, welcome newcomers and promote a team atmosphere

Are you driven by excellence to deliver instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs? If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12's learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child's learning.
Requirements
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree AND
  • Three (3) years of experience teaching high school
  • Meets State 's No Child Left Behind's (NCLB) Highly Qualified Teacher requirements

Certificates and Licenses: Career Technical Education Certification required, in Health Science for OR grades 9-12 and highly qualified teacher status in area of instruction

  • Strong interpersonal skills emphasizing tact, patience and courtesy; ability to establish a professional, effective rapport with students
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook as well as Internet research methods and report writing techniques; Utilizes computer software associated with curriculum
  • Able to adapt learning plans to meet different needs and learning styles; create an instructional and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrates the use of good judgment in decision-making
  • Great organizational and time management skills
  • Customer service orientation
  • Understanding of applicable sections of the State Education Code and other pertinent regulations
  • Willingness and ability to obtain additional licensing as required
  • Ability to pass required background check
  • Ability to obtain required fingerprint clearance
preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with charter school environment
  • Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
  • Ability to learn new technologies and tools
  • Proficient in principles, theories, practices, methods and techniques used in curriculum development and classroom instruction for special needs students
  • Experience teaching in both online and in a brick-and-mortar environments
