The interventionist is a highly qualified, State certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. Interventionists offer small group targeted content and skill specific instruction to students performing below benchmark. The interventioinist utilizes research based instructional practices and programs to provide targeted instruction to remediate academic deficits. The Interventionist reports to the Academic Administrator/Principal.

Interventionists within 30 miles of the ISPA EXton office may be required to report to the office 2-3 days per week, those more than 30 miles from the office will work remotely. Interventionists must travel occasionally throughout the year to various school functions, for State testing and as may be otherwise required by the school.

AS AN INTERVENTIONIST, YOU WILL...
  • Offer daily small group lessons (5-10 students) in accordance with program requirements.
  • Hold one-on-one remediation sessions and make-up sessions as needed.
  • In collaboration with Administrators, MTSS Coordinators, and Teachers analyze data to drive differentiated instruction.
  • Gather materials for and create lessons that include the Essential Elements of Instruction and utilize research based instructional methods and materials
  • Call and e-mail students who are not attending their required sessions, and collaborae with the Student Services Team to promote student engagement as needed.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance and assessment records in the required format.
  • Monitor accuracy among class lists by referencing all spreadsheets and TV lists.
  • Keep students and learning coaches informed of their schedules and any changes to their schedules.
  • Hold other sessions as needed throughout the week that may include remediation, anchors review, power standards, PSSA prep, fun/social time.
  • Provide assignments in appropriate supplemental programs to meet students' remediation needs.
  • Monitor usage of any supplemental programs and follow-up with any students not using the program.
  • Attend team meetings and school-wide meetings.
  • Participate fully in all professional development opportunities.
  • Attend MTSS and Student Rounds meetings and IEP meetings when necessary.
  • Understand and participate in the MTSS process and refer students as necessary.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to develop individual academic plans.
  • Create and deliver Family Involvement Workshops.
  • Provide instructional strategies to other members of the school when necessary.
  • Attend face-to-face events when necessary such as beginning and end of year events and PSSA testing.
  • Other responsibilities as deemed necessary and appropriate.
  • Establishes and maintains positive rapport with families and regularly communicates with students and learning coaches/parents on an ongoing regular basis;
  • Elementary and Middle School Teachers support learning coaches/parents with student curricular and instructional issues in a virtual classroom environment, in line with academy policies and procedures;
  • Supports students and learning coaches with the set-up and maintenance of their learning environment including basic computer troubleshooting;
  • Understands how both diverse and unique characteristics of students and their families impact required support;
  • Works collaboratively with other teachers to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the program, that parents have a central point of contact, and that tasks are distributed among the stakeholders;
  • Responds to students, parents and colleagues in timely manner.
  • Organizes social and educational activities for students and families, including sponsorship of virtual clubs, outings, marketing events or other extracurricular activities as required;
  • Travels to testing sites to proctor State exams.

Are you driven by excellence to deliver instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs? If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12's learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child's learning. Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors' degree in Education, Master's Degree preferred
  • Pennsylvania Department of Education required clearances
  • Math Certification and experience in grade level of interest for reading candidates.
  • At least 3 years teaching experience
  • Proficient in all programs associated with Microsoft Office
  • Pedagogical knowledge of content being taught and ability to apply critical thinking
  • Knowledge of State content standards and ability to align those with the K12 curriculum
  • Ability to embrace change/ adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
  • Ability to problem solve independently and have a high level of organization
  • Understanding of interdependency of deadlines on multiple projects and able to act to preserve integrity on other people's deadlines
  • Ability to work independently typically 40+ hours per week
  • Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during work day, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school
  • Ability to travel as required (on average once per month and/or approximately 10% of the time) for face to face professional development, student testing, and as required by school
  • Access to reliable high speed internet
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word; PowerPoint;
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs and curriculum
  • Ability to pass required background check
    Certificates and Licenses: Appropriate State teaching certification

  • Experience working in a virtual environment
  • Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or in a brick and mortar environment
