Title (WAVA) Elementary School Teacher-Special Education-2018/19

Description

The Washington Virtual Academy (WAVA) is seeking highly qualified and motivated
teachers to work in an innovative environment. Virtual academy teachers are part of our
pioneering effort in public education. Our teachers should therefore share the school's
pioneering mission, vision, and approach.

WAVA serves students grades K-12 in three schools: K-5 Elementary, 6-8 Middle
School, and 9-12 High School. We have anticipated openings at all three levels for the
2018-19 school year. The Middle School Special Education teachers may be asked to
provide instruction across grade levels or in specialized content areas: Math/Science
and/or ELA/History. Other content areas may be added, depending on student need.
Middle School Special Education teachers will be assigned with a team of General
Education teachers in order to provide collaborative Specially Designed Instruction for
students.

Teaching in a virtual academy requires a strong educational background and a firm
understanding of how best practices from a regular classroom can be applied to our
