Job Responsibilities:
The Teacher is responsible for teaching a self-contained or departmentalized class during a 12 month school year. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: developing an I.E.P. (Individualized Education Program) covering a twelve month period on each student assigned and completing progress marks and comments as indicated on the IEP, ensuring that students receive related services and accommodations as outlined in the I.E.P, completing all necessary reports and documentation as per agency standards, maintaining an attractive and educationally appropriate classroom environment, sharing in the maintenance of building bulletin boards, reading, understanding and complying with policies, procedures and expectations outlined in the school and agency manuals, participating in all meetings as required and school activities, as described by program calendar including but not limited to: Parent/Teacher Conferences, open house, staff meetings, CSE meetings, Red Flag Reviews, etc., and working cooperatively with all departments in our agency and communicate student concerns with the treatment team and supervisor.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's in Education preferred, prior field placement in special education preferred. NYSED Certification in appropriate area.
