    REPORTS TO: School Principal or Designee

    Job Summary:
    To support classroom teachers in the implementation of best practices in teaching and learning using differentiated instructional strategies. Through reflective dialogue and feedback, the instructional coach will provide classroom support to teachers by planning and modeling effective instructional strategies in order to improve teacher performance and outcomes for students. Coaches will develop and deliver staff development in the area of curriculum and instruction at the building and district level.

    Qualifications:
    Illinois Professional Educator License with Middle School English Language Arts endorsement
    Masters degree in subject area, curriculum/instruction, or administration, preferred
    Five years teaching experience, preferred

    Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
    • Knowledge of and experience with staff development.
    • Knowledge of teaching performance standards.
    • Knowledge of effective instructional practices.
    • Knowledge of curriculum standards.
    • Ability to successfully analyze data.
    • Ability to integrate some technology.

    Performance Responsibilities :
    • Provide training and support for mentors and new teachers.
    • Follow-up visits with teachers for reflective dialogue and feedback.
    • Assist with writing grade level curriculum based on Common Core standards.
    • Analyze data student performance data to instructional needs and implement appropriate staff development or coaching support
    • Support Classroom Instruction: to support teachers in order to help increase the quality and effectiveness of classroom instruction.
      • Model/team teach effective research-based instruction.
      • Provide opportunities for small group and individual discussions related to problems teachers face regarding teaching/instruction through the use of Cognitive Coaching or other strategies.
      • Provide assistance and resources to teachers and school leaders in a timely manner.
      • Observe instruction and provide regular feedback help build teacher self-efficacy and empower them to build their own craftsmanship.
      • Provide on-going support for new professional development and learning with a focus on research-based, best practices.
      • Facilitate implementation of professional development through job-embedded coaching.
      • Respond to teacher's needs through differentiated professional development opportunities.
      • Help with student assessments.
      • Develop/maintain schedules for tutoring.
      • Provide support for building SIT teams (School Improvement Teams).
      • Provide support for Tiers as needed.
      • Plan, support and monitor differentiated instruction in classrooms to reach the needs of all students.
      • Conduct building and staff trainings related to school improvement efforts.
      • Serve on curriculum related committees

    Working Conditions :
    Inside/outside office environment. Some travel within the district.

    Hazards: Unusual Demands Frequent standing, sitting, walking, and lifting up to approximately 24 pounds. Must be responsive to the needs of adult learners
