Our Center for Technology, Essex is seeking a part-time (0.525 FTE) English Language Arts teacher to teach English to our 11th and 12th grade technical center students, and teach Integrated English to 10th grade students in our Pre-Technical programs beginning with the 2018-19 school year.

Position will involve teaching blocks 1-2(AB) and 3(AB). The instructional time is approximately 8:00 AM - 10:45 AM each day plus prep. Total assigned work hours are approximately 4 hours/day.

- Hold (or be eligible to hold) a valid VT Educator license with an English Language Arts endorsement (2-05).
- Able to effectively integrate the teaching of English Language Arts into the regular Pre-Tech program.
- Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in the content area(s) of instruction and content-area pedagogy.
- Well versed in implementing project based learning units that reinforce work place writing and communication skills.
- Expertise in utilizing technology to support instruction (classroom settings are equipped with 1:1 computers)
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the student population being served and how demographic variables impact student achievement, and effectively uses this knowledge to effectively design and delivery instruction.
- Experience working with and ability developing and utilize creative strategies to engage adolescents and young adults, including reluctant learners and those at risk of dropping out.
- Ability to differentiate and work with various support personnel to maximize students' potential is required
- Knowledge and/or experience using "backwards design" for lesson development, differentiated instruction to support all students, and formative assessment to provide student feedback and to adjust lesson delivery.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Common Core Standards.
- Dedication to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for students.
- Excellent teaching, organizational, planning, written and oral communication, and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to the success of ALL students, and ability to understand and teach to the various learning styles of students.
- Commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of knowledge and professional practice.
- Effectively integrates 21st century skills into the learning environment.
