Title: Elementary Library Clerk
Qualifications: 48 College Credit Hours or the ability to pass a State Approved Assessment within 90 days of employment.
Reports To: Library Media Specialist, Building Principal
BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE
The Library Media Clerk works under the supervision of the Library Media Specialist and Building Principal. The Clerk will help with the daily operations of the media center while assisting students and staff in the library.

The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach. The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people. The employee is responsible for the work output of others. The employee occasionally works extended hours. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

- Check in materials (must be able to lift boxes up to 50 lbs.)
- Use the program Destiny to locate resources for students and staff.
- Check materials in/out to students, teachers, and staff and re-shelve materials. Must be able to shelve material at a variety of shelf-cabinet heights (3 inches to 6 feet).
- Record circulation statistics.
- Prepare list of new materials for teachers and staff.
- Maintain overdue records and distribute notices.
- Assist staff with special requests.
- Check in periodicals and newspapers and prepare them for circulation.
- Set up and maintain calendars, announcements and bulletin boards.
- Type correspondence and other related materials.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems and arrange for repair. Must be able to lift equipment (up to 50 lbs.) from carts (24" to 54" high) as needed.
- Order library supplies from Library Media Services.
- Record lost books.
- Assist the LMS in the development of curriculum materials.
- Set up and maintain student library cards.
- Maintain and record A-V requests.
- Assist with book repair and maintain repair records.
- Assist students with print and non-print materials and equipment as needed.
- Participate with print and non-print materials and equipment as needed.
- Assist with end-of-year inventory.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as determined by the Library Media Specialist and Building Principal.
Salary Range: Pay will range from $12.14 to $13.14 per hour
Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated a minimum of one time per year.
