The School District of Volusia County is looking for a dynamic highly qualified Coordinator for Career and Technical department.  We are seeking a visionary leader that can provide leadership for the career and technical education programs, career academies, visual and performing arts programs and physical education.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Career Technical Education, Visual or Performing Arts, Physical Education or a related field
  • Experience in business or industry preferred
  • Three (3) years successful teaching experience
  • Three (3) years successful administrative or supervisory experience preferred, including district- level assignment and experience as Teacher on Assignment
  • Experience in coordinating professional development related to performance responsibilities
  • Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License; if a holder of any other valid US state-issued Driver’s License, agree to acquire a Florida Driver’s License within thirty (30) days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required
  • Must be able to operate school board vehicles, when assigned, in accordance with operational procedures and School Board Policy 505

POSITION GOAL

To provide leadership for the career and technical education programs, career academies, visual and performing arts programs and physical education for Volusia County Schools

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES

  1. *Serve as liaison between curriculum coordinators, and CTE.
  2. *Develop, evaluate and recommend new or expanded programs and curricula in CTE and career academies.
  3. *Facilitate the program enhancement and review process for CTE.
  4. *Supervise all reports required for filing with appropriate education agencies.
  5. *Supervise implementation of strategies for attaining the goals of the Career Connection.
  6. *Develop and direct all assigned educational programs.
  7. *Direct the preparation of applications for federal funds and monitor federal grants for assigned programs.
  8. *Develop grant-writing activities related to career and technical education and career academies.
  9. *Serve as liaison between the public schools, local colleges and universities and the local business and industry community.
  10. *Direct the implementation of strategies to improve the percentage of job placements and positive employer responses.
  11. Market Career and Technical Education programs and academies.
  12. *Promote activities related to the special state curriculum programs and related legislation.
  13. *Promote the establishment and utilization of program and district advisory committees.
  14. *Assist in the recruitment and screening of career and technical education teachers and facilitate professional orientation activities.
  15. *Prepare or supervise all reports required to be filed with appropriate education agencies in connection with assigned programs.
  16. *Assist with the development of department budgets.
  17. *Review and recommend applicable policies and procedures.
  18. *Recommend specifications for the purchase of related equipment and assist in the preparation of educational specifications for new construction.
  19. *Project vocational Full Time Equivalency (FTE) annually.
  20. *Provide liaison between the district and the Florida Department of Education.
  21. *Coordinate related monitoring and audit activities.
  22. *Coordinate efforts of personnel outside scope of authority to achieve program or project goals.
  23. *Conduct awareness and information sessions related to special project implementation, CTE and career academies.
  24. *Supervise designated staff, including selection, training and performance appraisals.
  25. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director, K-12 Curriculum.

L. Finger Dexterity - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm.

M. Grasping - Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

N. Repetitive Motions - Substantial and continuous movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

O. Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed accurately, loudly or quickly.

P. Hearing Acuity - The ability to perceive speech and other environmental sounds at normal loudness levels.

Q. Visual Acuity - The power to see at a level which allows reading of numbers and text, operation of equipment, inspection of machines, etc.

Working Conditions (conditions the worker will be subject in a position)

A. Indoors - The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
