POSITION OVERVIEW:
KIPP DC is searching for a Clinical Psychologist to join our network student support team in Washington, D.C.  Working closely with school social workers, school psychologists, teachers, school leaders, and the behavior analyst, the Clinical Psychologist will provide expertise in the areas of mental health, trauma, developmental behaviors, and school-based interventions.  The Clinical Psychologist will serve as the in-house clinician to diagnose mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders for students at KIPP DC.  The clinical psychologist will also maintain a small caseload of high-need, high-risk students by providing treatment and clinical therapy.  In addition to direct clinical services to students, this role will also support school teams to design and maintain student support plans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Diagnoses and assesses mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders for students in grades Pre-K through 12^th (ages 3 – 18) grade at KIPP DC.
• Provides core services including prevention, consultation, intervention, assessment, and clinical therapy to students and families.
• Ability to modify practice and programs in response to student, staff and school level challenges.
• Serves in a consultative role with designated personnel to offer prevention and intervention strategies related to learning and behavioral problems of students; and provides consultation on an on-going basis to teachers, parents, and other school personnel to resolve students’ learning and behavioral problems.
• Designs and develops classroom interventions for students with behavioral disorders.
• Routinely gathers evidence of positive outcomes resulting from clinical mental health services for school personnel and parents.
• Receives and reviews available developmental information from school and outside resources about student behavior(s) and develops evidence-supported or evidence-based psychological interventions.
• Provides training for school staff on mental health diagnoses, behavior interventions, and best practices for responding to student behaviors in the classroom.  Helps all school stakeholders understand child development and how it affects student performance academically, socially, and emotionally.
• Delivers crisis response and intervention services to students, families and staff.
• Participates in mediations, administrative reviews, hearings and due process proceedings, as needed.
• Assist in the proper referrals of students to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.
• Exhibits positive rapport with students.
• Establishes and maintain strong communication lines with all parents.
• Be available for Open Houses, Parent-Teacher Conferences and other events involving parents.
• Maintains professional licenses and accreditation as necessary.

  REQUIREMENTS:

• At least four years of experience working with children and adolescents in a clinical setting (required).
• At least 1 year minimum working in a school system (Preferred).
• Experience in school based, integrated model of clinical service delivery monitoring, and enhancement [Required]
• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited university (Required).
• Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist by the District of Columbia (Required).
• Strong communication skills and an ability to engage schools, parents and community organizations in the development of programs.
• Hold high expectations for students.
• Demonstrates strong pedagogical knowledge.
