TITLE: Preschool for All Teacher
DEPARTMENT: Student Services EFFECTIVE DATE: August 1, 2019
POSITION SUMMARY
This position will encompass pre-kindergarten-aged children who are in need of a structured, enriched and engaged classroom environment to promote appropriate academic and socio-emotional skill development. The teacher will be required to develop and reinforce appropriate cognitive and emotional skill development through a variety of modalities needed by the children. The teacher will be required to develop a program environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to be successful in accordance with each student's ability. Instruction will be provided with the assistance of teacher paraprofessional. Class size will be twenty students in two half day programs.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Building Principal
Supervises: Classroom, students, volunteers
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Teaches district approved curriculum with additional supports to meet the individual needs of students
2. Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
3. Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
4. Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
5. Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
6. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
7. Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
8. Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
9. Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
10. Plans and coordinates the work of classroom aide, parents and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
11. Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student.
12. Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, activity centers and exhibits of students' work.

· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
· Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instruction program
· Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned
· Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents
· Skill in oral and written communication
· Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education
· Valid Teaching Certificate Type 04 Early Childhood Education
· ISBE Special Education Approval/Endorsement
· ESL Approval/Endorsement
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
Work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. · The employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 pounds such as boxes of books and AV/VCR carts.

· The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
