Title: Teacher, CTAE - Graphic Communications and Design

Position Summary:

Provides instruction in selected areas of Graphic Communications, Design, Animation and Digital Media Technology to ensure that students gain appropriate knowledge and skills about the industry and are prepared for a career and post-secondary opportunities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides content-related and appropriate instruction based on state and local curriculum through a combination of classroom, laboratory, and co-curricular experiencesProvides community-based instruction and projects based on program guidelines and requirementsProvides leadership opportunities for students by establishing a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO), i.e. SkillsUSA, as a co-curricular instructional tool within the classroomManages and maintains program facilities and equipmentAdheres to all state guidelines required for the implementation of a successful programProvides classroom environment which promotes active learning in subject areaCommunicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, school & county leadershipAccounts for student attendance and punctualityFollows all county, state, and federal policies and proceduresFollows professional ethics in all work-related activitiesAttends school and District-level professional learning activities as directedPrepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absentSeeks and maintains professional learning opportunities through State endorsed professional organizations. i.e., ACTE, GACTEFacilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communicationsIntegrates appropriate technology into classroom instructionAvoids behaviors which detract from staff moralePerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator


Education and Experience:
Education:
  • Associate's Degree or higher in graphic design, advertising design, communication design, commercial art, graphic arts, visual communication, computer animation, or print management from an accredited institution accepted by GaPSC; OR a GaPSC-determined equivalent; The CTAE office can help with this area.

Experience:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of occupational work experience in the field required

Certification:
  • Must hold or be eligible for valid Graphic Communications & Design certification from GaPSC Trades at GaPSC 505-2-.90; Areas of Specialization: (O) Graphic Communications & Design

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proven communication and instructional strategiesClassroom management skillsExcellent communication skills both orally and in writingExcellent organizational skills


Salary Information:

Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education experience and education calculations from the Teacher Salary Schedule (190 Days)
