Description
The (GCA) Deputy Head of School (HOS) works with the HOS as a "second in command" to support the growth and help oversee the performance of the school. This position also supports the success of fiscal and academic performance as well as business operations and leadership development.

• Demonstrates understanding of and supports GCA and K12's mission, vision, value State ments, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior;
• Helps oversee the attainment of high levels of student achievement at the school; Assists in refining the education design to improve student achievement;
• Helps HOS manage and develop school leaders in their roles;
• Helps oversee and support all staff within the school to ensure high quality implementation of GCA and K12 curriculum plans, process and policies, instructional guidelines, and operational efficiencies;
• Supports HOS in effective and efficient budget management;
• Helps determine priorities for the school and manages the team (e.g. Operations, Finance, Technology, Special Education, etc.) to achieve deliverables;
• Works closely with K12 staff to improve the systems and processes that serve the school;
• Works closely with HOS on establishing strong relationships with school boards and school partners;
• Assists with professional development, appraisal, and disciplinary activities in accordance with company policy consulting with Human Resources as appropriate.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises up to 12 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Requirements
•Bachelor's degree in Education or similar field of study AND
•Ten (10) years of experience in management INCLUDING two (2) years of experience managing K12 schools and/or K12 partner schools AND
•Five (5) years of experience as a principal, school leader, or school administration OR
•Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: Valid, appropriate GA State administrative license

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

•Demonstrated success as an instructional leader and in the professional development of school staff including other management level positions
•Experience with school operations, planning and implementation
•Strong management skills including planning, directing, reporting, budgeting and administrative capabilities
•Strong problem analysis and resolution skills - both strategically and functionally
•Leadership experience
•Ability to pass required background check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Master's degree in Education or a closely related field of study
•Strong belief in school reform
•Entrepreneurial passion
•Strong writing skills as they apply to charter and business plan development and application authoring
