SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The College and Career Readiness Coordinator (CCRC) is responsible for overseeing the programming within the Future Center for students, parents and alumni. The CCRC will be responsible for academic coordination as it relates to supporting students in each of the 3 E's (Employment, Enrollment, and Enlistment) securing summer job opportunities, enhancing student experiences, and establishing partnerships that support current students as well as alumni. The CCRC will also work collaboratively with the Career Academy Coordinator (CAC), administrators, student services personnel and teachers to ensure students receive support in establishing and persisting in one of the 3E areas. This is a certified 12-month position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborates with local colleges and universities, representatives from the Armed Forces and Academy partners
  • Assist with the coordination, development and implementation of College and Career Readiness programs
  • Collaborates with school and district staff to ensure resources, activities and events are aligned and support the school's Career Academies and Choice options
  • Coordinates with the Writing Specialist to recruit and schedule qualified volunteers to assist student's in the Writing Center
  • Conducts annual needs assessment and evaluation of the Future Center programming
  • Provides professional development resources and ongoing support teachers and support staff
  • Ensures the availability of necessary technical support for teachers, students and parents
  • Facilitates the promotion of Future Center activities and events to school staff, students, parents and the community
  • Prepares and analyzes required data reports by designated due dates
  • Collaborates with District and school leadership to develop and implement effective programs
  • Participates in professional development opportunities to keep abreast of current and emerging college and career readiness trends, demand and resources
  • Work with the Student Services Team to track student post-secondary planning and placement
  • Provide career development, occupation, labor market, non-traditional career, and post-secondary information to building administrators, counselors, and teachers
  • Coordinate classrooms, group, or individual session activities to support all students' awareness and obtainment of graduating with a detailed post-secondary plan for one of the 3 E's (enrolled, enlisted or employed at a livable wage)
  • Provide staff presentations related to how the Future Center can collaborate with teachers to promote student success
  • Provide and coordinate activities for students to develop college and career readiness skills
  • Promote the integration of college and career readiness learning opportunities into academic courses
  • Promote college and career awareness, exploration, and planning
  • In collaboration with the Career Academy Coordinator (CDC) serve as liaison to facilitate business, education, military and community partnerships that provide opportunities for students
  • Collaborates with the College and Career Readiness Resource Associate to schedule speakers to share information on post-secondary options and opportunities
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

This role provides privileged access to highly sensitive student information. The successful candidate will be discrete, high-energy, strategic, proactive, a direct communicator, highly-organized and committed to the vision and values of Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS). In addition, the following standards will generally define the successful incumbent:

  • Master's Degree in School Counseling (preferred), or related field required
  • Must hold or be eligible for a valid Indiana educators license
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful related experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to use and develop online resources
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong technology skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, as well as provide leadership
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with diverse groups
  • Ability to manage self-directed projects, multiple task and responsibilities
  • Experience developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating program goals and initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills and strong analytical and writing capabilities
  • Close attention to detail coupled with the ability to exercise good judgment

  • Ability to execute meetings, calls and emails with professionalism, courtesy and accuracy
  • Personal qualities of maturity, humility, strong work ethic, and diligence
  • Ability to effectively allocate and prioritize time to several tasks to ensure completion of all assigned task


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must hold or be eligible for a valid Indiana Educator's license. Preferred in School Counseling.
