JOB TITLE:  High School Principal                    JOB FAMILY:  Admin/PT/Exempt                    

LOCATION: Greeley Central High School          DAYS PER YEAR: 230

REPORTS TO/EVALUATOR: Assistant Supt., Secondary Schools

SALARY:   Range 16 ($92,543-135,958 based on experience)    

POSTING: Until filled (screening applications begins May 8, 2018, interviews scheduled the week of May 14, 2018)

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in Educational Leadership (required). A valid Colorado Principal’s License must be held at the time of submission.  CPI training (required).
At least three years of high school teaching experience, and a minimum of three years of experience in high school administration and supervision.
 

NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:
The high school principal will demonstrate effective leadership skills aimed at developing a caring, collaborative community and guiding a total educational program for a comprehensive high achieving high school that will result in increased student achievement.The principal directs the educational program, personnel administration, community relations, and coordinates the total educational program with the school so as to promote the educational development of each student.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Experience in High School Leadership
The principal sets the vision and mission of the school as it aligns with Innovation 2020. Supervises the school’s educational program of highly engaged staff in student achievement through setting high standards, ensuring quality learning experiences, and supporting a comprehensive high school. Focuses on achievement data in a shared-decision making process that includes all staff. Demonstrates instructional leadership through a cycle of continuous improvement by effectively planning, implementing, scheduling, monitoring, and evaluating the instructional program through the unified improvement plan. Designs and implements multiple pathways to graduation.

The principal is responsible for implementing lawful and ethical personnel procedures and evaluations and adheres to contractual obligations through high levels of feedback, accountability and visibility in the school community.  Responsible for the recruiting, screening, hiring, and providing professional development for highly qualified building staff. The principal organizes and manages human and financial resources to create a safe and effective working and learning environment and maximizes the impact to culture and achievement at the school. Monitors the implementation of procedures to establish and maintain positive behavior management and effective student discipline.
 

Skilled at Shared-Decision Making and Collaboration
Uses shared decision-making model to problem-solve, reach consensus and build trust with staff, students and community.  The principal collaborates with the school community to build systems that improve student achievement and build a positive culture.  Conducts meetings of business and community leaders to advance career pathways and post-secondary student success. Principal must be an effective leader of the change process.
 

Experienced at Building Community and Stakeholder Engagement
Acts as a liaison by developing positive relations between school, parents, and community. Provides opportunities for parents to interact with staff. Establishes and maintains active community involvement by encouraging participation in school life.
 

Other Functions:
Leader supervises and maintains accurate internal fund accounting related to all school activities and allied organizations. Maintains and manages property control. Maintains and manages payroll procedures.  Develops and supervises the school budget to maximize the use of available resources to impact student achievement.

Principal conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school. Principal is responsible for conducting staff evaluations and employee documentation throughout the school year.

Leads the school’s cultural proficiency efforts by creating an environment where diversity is truly embraced and valued as a strength throughout the school. Works to ensure that implicit bias is recognized and addressed to ensure equitable relationships among and between students, staff, and families.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Mental Ability
Demonstrates skills and abilities in working with teachers in developing effective teaching strategies in a co-teaching/team environment.

Ability to successfully communicate with, lead and problem-solve with diverse groups of people. Use a problem-solving approach to develop a unified improvement plan.

Knowledge of adolescent growth and development and implications for instructional decisions influencing the teaching/learning cycle.  Knowledge of Colorado and district content standards.

Computer, telephone, copy machine, other electronic/technology systems.
 

Physical Requirements Needed to Perform Job
Infrequent lifting of objects not exceeding 20 pounds.
