Instructional Coach/Content Specialist


Goal

To provide core academic content support in math, English, and/or science for teachers through staff development days, PLC support, teacher training classes, and cooperative lesson design and team teaching.


Summary of Job:
The Instructional Coach will provide coaching support, including technical coaching support, to teachers in the areas of core academics - math, English, and science. This position works in conjunction with other instructional coaches, teachers, and site principal to design, implement and support staff development and instruction. Additional duties will include the on-going development of intensive and strategic academic integration components and approaches, the reinforcement and acceleration of core academic content proficiencies, and all levels of assessments for targeted students.


Qualifications

Must have a minimum of a Masters degree. Knowledge of Career and Technical Education programs required and an understanding of the process for integrating academics within all CTE programs. Must have a willingness to work with CTE teachers to develop, design, and incorporate academic content standards within CTE programs.
• Will support all programs at WT Central and WT North
• Must currently hold a CTE endorsement as a CTE teacher or be eligible for CTE endorsement by Aug 1, 2018
• Must have a minimum of 4 years of teaching experience at the high school level or higher, including but not limited to any of the three core content areas
• Must be familiar with the integration of state academic and CTE content standards crosswalking to develop CTE programs
• Must have or be eligible for and apply for the CTE endorsement in integrated content by August 1, 2018


Job Duties
• Focuses on continued support of standards-based academics in CTE programs
• Team teaches core content subjects included in all CTE areas
○ Designs specific lessons based on academic subjects tied into CTE subjects
○ Will be involved in the development of academic standards in program curriculum, and will be involved in co-teaching and other teacher support roles
• Supports PLC planning and staff development
○ Focus on student achievement and connected to the classroom
○ Supports Career and Tech Student Organizations (CTSOs)
○ Support of crosswalk process for all programs
○ Help CTE teachers to select academic reference materials (aligned with district and state standards, expectations, benchmarks)
• Support implementation of coaching materials - leadership resources, teaming strategies, etc.
• Able to coordinate multiple layers of instruction and intervention with teachers
• Ability to build a collaborative coaching culture. Be committed to development of intervention programs in order to accelerate the attainment of student academic content skills towards proficiency at grade level
• Work with the school community in creating a seamless schoolwide community/program working with CTE teachers, content area teachers, and student support teachers
• Ability to organize, consult, and work as a team with a wide spectrum of teachers: instructional coaches, content teachers, and student support teachers
• Facilitation and presentation skills in addition to coaching skills
• Cognitive Coaching training and experience in implementing Cognitive Coaching or the willingness to be trained in Cognitive Coaching
• Expertise in core content development as demonstrated by previous experience in working with multiple instructional levels of students
• Knowledge of and experience with one-on-one and small group early interventions models
• Experience in working with secondary students struggling in the area of science, English, or math
• Broad experience in data analysis, making program and instructional decisions about students, and working with teachers in making sense of data. Experience with using assessments to create appropriate lessons using backward design methodologies
• Work with CTE teachers in selecting students who need additional core academic content support
• Work with other Instructional coaches, as well as content specific teachers to reinforce and supplement district programs at the high school level
• Ability to model effective instructional strategies in the classroom
• Participate and attend necessary professional development opportunities at various levels
• Participate as a member of the school community
• Co-facilitate differentiated professional development
• Attend driver training offered at Warren Tech and drive district vehicles
