The Syracuse City School District represents 34 schools and 4 alternative education programs, serving 21,000+ students Pre-K-12 of whom 77% qualify for free or reduced price lunch, 18% are served by the Office of Special Education and 78% are students of color.

POSITION:

• English/ELA Teacher for Summer School - Middle and High School positions available

PROGRAM DATES/TIMES:

• Middle School Program:
• July 9 - August 3, Monday - Friday 7:45 AM - 11:45 AM
• High School Program:
• July 9 - August 14
• Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
• August 15 - August 17 (Regents Exams 8/15-8/16, Grading 8/17)
• Wednesday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

PROGRAM LOCATIONS:

• Summer School locations and staff assignments will be determined based on Summer School student enrollment.

MANDATORY ORIENTATION/STAFF DEVELOPMENT DATES:

• Middle School Program - Thursday, June 28 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
• High School Program - TBD

STAFF ATTENDANCE:

• Please note that there is an attendance expectation for all Summer School programs. Please refer to your Summer School contract for specific details.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Candidates must possess NYS teaching certification for English/ELA
• Training and or experience with Culturally Relevant Education (preferred)
• Prior demonstration of exemplary attendance is expected of any candidate for hire.

SALARY/SALARY RANGE:

• The current hourly rate for SCSD Teachers is $42.69 per hour.
