    HUMAN RESOURCE TECHNICIAN II

    GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
    This is an office support position This position is assigned the most difficult clerical and data entry duties
    in the support of assigned department to type file and distribute a variety of documents to answer
    telephones and respond to requests for information to provide general support and assistance to assigned
    supervisor and other Support Specialists to utilize a PC and related softwares required in the performance
    of job activities May perform a variety of administrative related activities.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
    Receives general supervision from a director
    May provide technical or functional supervision to lower level new or recently transferred employees.

    REPRESENTATIVE ACTIVITIES
    Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following
    Prepare type word process and proofread a variety of documents including general correspondence
    agendas and reports enter a variety of data and information in various computer data files and program
    Answer the telephone and provide assistance to other Cincinnati Public Schools CPS staff and the general
    public provide information on department school policies and procedures as required assist in the
    monitoring of calls visitors and correspondence routing inquiries and complaints to appropriate personnel
    File documents reports and correspondence for department maintain filing systems both manual and
    computerized assist in maintaining records for department
    Operate a variety of equipment including a telephone PC copy machine and facsimile machine input
    retrieve update data and text in computerized files
    Order maintain and inventory supplies materials and equipment for department
    May provide instructions and assistance to lower level new and newly transferred employees
    May assume duties of absent employee within department
    May verify funds available for a variety of financial activities within department
    May compile calculate maintain and review department school payroll verify time sheets
    May perform a variety of administrative related activities
    Perform related duties as required or as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Knowledge of
    Basic mathematical principles
    English usage spelling grammar and punctuation
    Typing and word processing techniques
    Department procedures policies and rules as they relate to assigned position
    Modern office procedures methods and computer equipment including a PC and related software
    required in the performance of job activities

    Ability to
    Work independently in absence of supervision
    Operate and use modern office equipment including use of a PC and related software required in the
    performance of job activities
    Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
    Perform routine mathematical calculations
    Type word process at a speed necessary for successful job performance
    Prepare edit and proofread a variety of documents and correspondence
    Interpret and explain department school policies procedures and rules as they relate to assigned position
    Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
    Maintain confidentiality of restricted information
    Work occasional overtime or other than normal shift to meet work schedules

    Other Requirements
    This is a sensitive classification therefore applicants for appointments must pass a security clearance
    which includes a check of employment references and criminal records.

    To apply for this position you must have satisfactory service with CPS as a Lead Secretary/Senior Support Specialist II equivalent or higher OR listed on the open or promotional Lead Secretary Eligibility List.

    Probationary Period
    New Hire: 240 work days
    Promotion: 120 work days
