The School District of Clayton is seeking a long term substitute Social Studies teacher at Clayton High School. The successful candidate will have an academic background in social studies. High School Social Studies teachers guide students to make personal connections to history and appreciate historical contributions of individuals and groups.

Our diverse student population requires teachers to differentiate instruction and assess learning using a variety of methods. A strong foundation in high school pedagogy is necessary.

The Successful Candidate:

Knowledgeable about high school philosophy and the developmental needs of adolescents and will be able to present the curriculum using a problem-centered approach

Demonstrates appropriate long and short term preparation for classroom instruction

Holds high expectations for all students and sees themselves as facilitators of student learning

Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings

Assesses student progress, provides students and parents with specific feedback, and uses the results to adjust instruction as needed

Takes responsibility for teaching the District curriculum as outlined in the curriculum documents

Establishes and maintains a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community

Education: Bachelor's Degree required. Major or Minor in content area required. Master's Degree preferred.

Certification: Missouri teacher certification, with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.

Experience: Preferred.

Benefits: Not Eligible.

FLSA Status: Exempt, Professional Exemption-Teacher.

Work Calendar: Assignment begins mid August through the end of November
