Falls Church City Public Schools is seeking an Elementary School Principal for Mount Daniel Elementary School, grades K-1.

Falls Church, Virginia is a suburb of Washington D.C.  Falls Church City Public Schools enjoys a reputation for excellence.  Falls Church City Public Schools has five schools that serve more than 2500 students.  Mount Daniel serves approximately 350 students in Kindergarten and First Grades and offers a progressive, enriching and differentiated curriculum that challenges students to pursue a wide variety of interests to help guide future academic and career goals.  

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

We seek a principal who:

• Demonstrates strong instructional leadership
• Has experience implementing and supervising a variety of innovative programs that address the needs of a diverse student population
• Has experience with or is willing to learn about the International Baccalaureate Program, specifically the Primary Years Programme (PYP)
• Has a vision for an outstanding elementary school program for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM)
• Demonstrates leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, parents, administrators and community members to promote high academic achievement
• Has skill in evaluating instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
• Has success working with an involved community
• Has experience in working with a variety of programs
• Facilitates the use of data to identify student needs and promote effective and differentiated instruction with a base understanding of Response to Intervention (RtI)
• Has strong knowledge of the effective use of technology integration that enhances learning
• Possesses a Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision
• Has at least three years of successful experience as a school administrator

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, administrators and parents.
• Broad knowledge of various instructional techniques and programs.
• The ability to plan, supervise, and evaluate the work of others based on individual strengths and weaknesses, and to guide their professional growth.
• Extensive knowledge of the curriculum and instructional program, including content and methodologies, and the integration of technology into the instructional program.
• Effective communications skills to interact with community members, parents, students, teachers, and other administrators.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• A Master's Degree and eligibility for a Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement as an Elementary Principal or Administration and Supervision, Pre K-12.
• Five years of teaching experience at the elementary school level preferred.
• Three years experience as a school administrator preferred.
