Stafford County Public Schools (SCPS) is looking for an engaged and innovative leader who is willing to make a long-term commitment to Stafford County, its 28,650 students and 3,800 school staff. 

SCPS is a dynamic, goal-oriented learning community committed to preparing its students to be life-long learners while preparing them for success in the work place, military, further education, and world citizenship. Stafford County was established in 1664 and is located 40 miles south of Washington, D.C. and 50 miles north of Richmond, VA. Atlantic beaches and the Blue Ridge Mountains are also within a short drive.  The area is rich in history.

SCPS serves a diverse and mobile population. Students represent 110 countries of birth and speak 60 languages. A significant percent of the student population have parents with military or governmental jobs. SCPS is one of the largest school divisions in the Commonwealth of Virginia with all of its schools fully accredited.  The school system is comprised of 17 elementary schools, 8 middle schools and 5 high schools.  Stafford County is the 5^th fastest growing county in the Commonwealth of Virginia and has the 4^th highest student population.  SCPS has a track record of excellence and is seeking a new leader to continue that history of excellence and lead the students and staff into the future.

The School Board hopes to select a dynamic leader this summer to join the division by October 1. Ability to be licensed as a superintendent in Virginia is required.
