Coordinator of Advancement: Southern Louisiana

Location: Southern Louisiana

Role Mission: IDEA Public Schools is working to transform the lives of children and families in southern Louisiana by launching and operating high-quality charter schools with the mission of sending every student to and through college. The Coordinator of Advancement - Southern Louisiana will sit on IDEA's advancement team and is responsible for working closely with the Director, Advancement in the region to meet ambitious fundraising targets that will fuel growth. These goals are met through: a) supporting donor research and stewardship of foundations, individuals and corporations in the Southern Louisiana region, including helping to write best-in-class grant applications and reports, b) supporting the execution of a diverse portfolio of campaigns, events, meetings, and school tours; c) managing our donor database entry and reporting for the region; and d) providing administrative support to ensure that 100% of regulatory and policy requirements are met on behalf of Southern Louisiana's Boards of Directors and associated committees.

Accountabilities:

1. Raise $3MM* to support Southern Louisiana region

*Conduct research on prospects, donors and other stakeholders

* Lead on creation of regional campaigns designed to attract and cultivate small gifts from a broad range of constituents to build both awareness and sustainability

* Coordinate all tours for the Southern Louisiana region, leading logistics
  • Lead campus communication pertaining to event
  • Train student ambassador volunteers via ongoing curriculum and regional ambassador events
  • Train student speakers to present at funder tours & events

* Provide support for a variety fundraising events and activities

2. IDEA Southern Louisiana meets its growth plan by launching 8 new charter school campuses between 2019 and 2024

* Assist Director, Advancement in identifying and prioritizing new charter opportunities, with an initial focus on Jefferson and Lafayette Parishes

* Assist in building enthusiasm and support for IDEA schools among key civic, political, and community leaders in communities where IDEA operates or plans to operate schools

* Research potential candidates to serve on local boards of directors

* Assist the Director, Advancement in preparation of winning charter applications

3. Provide administrative support to the Board of Directors and associated committees to ensure that 100% of regulatory and policy requirements are met.

* Assist in preparing and distributing meeting notifications, correspondence, and agenda materials

* Attend board and select committee meetings and record minutes

* Ensure meeting materials are posted IAW applicable law and board policy

* Ensure timely submission of board documents to local authorizers, to include required reports, charter amendments, approved policies, etc.

4. Ensure best-in-class development infrastructure in Southern Louisiana in place

* Ensure all pledges and gifts entered into Little Green Light within 24-hours of commitment

* Send acknowledgment letters within 48-hours of donation receipt.

* Ensure all contacts and contact reports entered into Little Green Light (constituent relationship management software) at a minimum of a weekly basis

* Responsible for managing regional stakeholder lists for internal and external use (e.g. annual report, year end appeal and event lists)

5. Host a visit with 80% of the state legislators who represent the region with support of advancement advocacy team

* Organize tours for state representatives and senators at IDEA schools

* Assist in building enthusiasm and support for IDEA schools among key civic, political, and community leaders in communities where IDEA operates or plans to operate schools

Competencies:

* Strong knowledge of basic Microsoft Excel functions

Qualifications:

* Education: Bachelor's Degree

* Experience: 2 years professional experience, preferably in education, or within a nonprofit

Knowledge and Skills:

* Microsoft Office
