Title: Coordinator, School Nutrition Training

Position Sumary:

Provides leadership and supervisory assistance in training staff for compliance within the School Nutrition Program; Develops, coordinates, and conducts training for School Nutrition Managers, Managers In-Training, Production Chefs, and all Food Service Workers; Supervises the Manager-In-Training Program and coordinates and maintains training records for all school nutrition employees

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates School Nutrition Program operations according to Federal, State, and Board regulations and policies and established food service standards and practicesMonitors and documents local schools' adherence to program standards to ensure the operation of nutritionally and financially sound School Nutrition ProgramsAssists in developing, organizing and conducting training and staff development for area supervisors, cafeteria managers, food service workers, and cashiers, as determined by local and state guidelinesAssists in conducting the annual program evaluation process for central office and school level staff; formulates and submits recommendations for improvementSupervises and evaluates Managers-In-Training and Sub Managers and performs site visits to assess staff's performance and compliance with Federal Regulations and food safety standardsSchedules training rotations and regular evaluations to ensure a well-rounded training program for the Managers-In-TrainingAssists with recruitment and interviews of qualified candidates to fill available Manager-In-Training positionsTrains and supports Managers-In-Training and Sub Managers on personnel management; Assists with disciplinary action and corrective action as neededDevelops, coordinates, implements, and monitors all training sessions including new employee training, Manager-in-Training Orientation, Manager Preview Conference, and Food Service Worker Conference; Assesses training needs and effectiveness of the training programs through surveys and provides training feedback to leadership teamUpdates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures related to training; Ensures updates are communicated effectivelyMaintains all District training records for Managers-In-Training, Sub Managers, and School Nutrition Managers, Food Service Workers, and SNP Central Office staff; Completes and submits state required forms and reports pertaining to training as needed; Verifies/approves requirements for managers' certification with the School Nutrition Association (SNA)Coordinates state required Orientation for Nutrition Employees (ONE) classes for newly hired workers within the first full school year of their employmentConducts/Coordinates ServSafe (food safety & sanitation) training and certification for the department; Ensures renewal requirements are met for all that are certifiedEnsures that all SNP Managers meet the Core Training-In-Depth (TID) requirements within the mandated time frame stated in Stated Board Rule 160-5-6-.01 Statewide School Nutrition ProgramOversees the implementation of the annual reviews to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations for Managers-In-Training and Sub ManagersProvides technical assistance to the SNP Area Supervisors, SNP Managers, Sub Managers, and Managers-In-Training on Food Service OperationsDevelops the content of the Training section of the Dashboard; Collaborates with other SNP employees to provide on-going tools, resources and best practices for daily operations for school level useOrganizes, develops, and conducts training on the foundation of the National School Lunch Program for Managers-In-Training and Sub ManagersProvides training in work scheduling, equipment use and care, food production, work simplification techniques, nutrition, sanitation, storage, record keeping, nutrition education, procurement, and human relationsEnsures all SNP employees receive state-required training content and meet minimum training hoursParticipates with administrative team to develop and implement the Strategic Plan including identifying new initiatives, setting benchmarks, and data collection and trackingWorks with the administrative team to assist local schools in personnel management, determining labor and hiring, and evaluating employeesCollaborates with the administrative team to implement a communication program including promotional activities and parental and stakeholder involvementPromotes communication and professional growth of central office and school level staffAttends professional development programs to gain knowledge beneficial to the continued progress of the school nutrition program; Provides department training when neededProvides opportunities for Managers-In-Training and Sub Managers on long term assignments to be involved with school promotions and activitiesPerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Education and Experience:
Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field requiredMaster's degree preferred

Experience:
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in food service management and/or experience in a managerial, supervisory, administrative, training or instructor capacity required

Certification/Licensure:
  • Must hold a valid ServSafe Certification

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of food service standards including food preparation, portion control, serving procedures, and sanitation practicesKnowledge of purchasing and financial management proceduresKnowledge of Federal, State, and local school food and nutrition policies and proceduresAbility to supervise and work effectively with departmental personnelGood decision-making and problem-solving skillsProficiency with computer, data entry, and related applicationsExcellent communication skills both written and verbalExcellent organizational and leadership skills

Salary Information:
Salary Range for 2017-2018
  • $72,576 - $85,655

Step placement credit may be granted for up to a maximum of 8 years (Step 9) of prior verifiable experience. Salary placement with Fulton County Schools is non-negotiable. Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education experience calculations from the Non-Teaching Salary Schedule B-235, Executive Scale, Step 1 - Step 9.
