GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION
The primary purpose of the Extended School Year (ESY) Principal Intern is to apply the knowledge and skills attained from an approved graduate-level New York State administrative certification program to the role of a school building leader. In addition, the potential school building leader will have the opportunity to gain experiential knowledge from leading of a school program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Enrollment in an approved graduate-level New York State administrative certification program, with emphasis on educational leadership
Minimum of 5 years teaching experience, including leadership roles
Formal letter of endorsement from internship program or field experience coordinator
An acceptable background check.

REPORTS TO

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the implementation of the master schedule, the Student Code of Conduct, and Parent Handbook
- Assist in the coordination and supervision of school activities
- Participate in site-based committee meetings and activities
- Provide leadership regarding staff development planning
- Provides instructional leadership
- Collaborates and fosters professional relationships within the school community
- Maintains and exemplifies culture of high expectations and accountability for scholarly and professional conduct
- Assists in the development and administration of policies dealing with discipline, conduct, and attendance
- Assists faculty in the development of effective classroom instruction and management
- Assists in curriculum development to meet the needs of all students
- Observes the evaluation process of certified and support staff as assigned
- Assists in supervision of special events
- Assists in the care and management of the building, furniture, equipment, apparatus, and supplies
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Possess good time management skills
- Able to communicate with students with varying levels of ability
- Ability and desire to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
- High level of written and oral communication skills
- Proficient computer skills including Excel and Word
- Ability and desire to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
- High level of written and oral communication
- High level of interpersonal skills
- High level of behavior management skills
- High level of knowledge of educational principles, especially those that apply to students with disabilities
- Possess exemplary organization practice
