  • School Psychologist, Full-time (1.0 FTE), for the 2018-2019 school year
    To be based at Manzanita Elementary School (will also work with students at Ventana Vista Elementary and Valley View Early Learning Center (Preschool))

    Valid Arizona "School Psychologist" certificate from the Arizona Department of Education to practice as a School Psychologist
    • Master's degree in Psychology or Educational Psychology required; Education Specialist or Doctoral degree preferred
    • Valid Arizona Driver's license and clear driving record
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred

    Under the administrative direction of the Director of Student Services, performs work of considerable difficulty developing psychological assessments of students and developing and implementing intervention and treatment plans.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Provides consultation to students, teachers, staff, and parents regarding social/emotional, behavioral, and/or academic behavior;
    • Participates in psycho-educational evaluations;
    • Conducts record reviews;
    • Administers psychological, educational, and other individual assessments to students;
    • Interprets the results of individual, class, school, and district assessments;
    • Observes children in classroom settings and assesses psychological needs;
    • Interviews teachers, parents and students and gathers information about child behavior and conditions related to learning;
    • Interprets and integrates data and develops school programs to meet the special needs of students;
    • Collaborates with site special education teams to make special education decisions;
    • Consults with parents, teachers and other staff members in developing and implementing plans;
    • Serves as a resource to committees, school administrators, and school personnel surrounding issues and events that would benefit from the specific skill set of a school psychologist;
    • Plans and delivers a program of psychological services, including counseling for children, parents and teachers;
    • Conducts interventions, individual counseling and group therapy sessions;
    • Conducts site-based educational research, as assigned;
    • Prepares case summary reports and federally and state mandated reports;
    • Maintains accurate and confidential records of students;
    • Participates in trainings, conferences, meetings, workshops, and other professional development activities as required or as assigned;
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
    • Knowledge of state and local laws and CFSD rules and regulations regarding psychological assessment of students
    • Knowledge of psychological testing and protocols
    • Knowledge of psychological counseling principles, practices and theories
    • Skill in assessing psychological needs and developing and implementing treatment plans
    • Skill in delivering psychological counseling
    • Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing
    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, administrators, students, parents and medical professionals

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education & Experience:
    • Master's degree in Psychology or Educational Psychology required; Education Specialist or Doctoral degree preferred
    • Valid Arizona School Psychologist certificate from the Arizona Department of Education to practice as a School Psychologist
    • Valid Arizona Driver's license and clear driving record
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred
    • Current CPR and First Aid certification
    • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of school psychology
    • Must be able to interpret laws, policies, and guidelines relating to school psychology
    • Requires the ability to work with teachers, parents, coaches, sponsors, and students in a variety of situations and work effectively in a team-oriented school
    • Superior oral and written communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to work cooperatively, effectively, and respectfully with staff, parents, and students from diverse backgrounds
    Computer Proficiency: Microsoft Excel, Outlook/Gmail, PowerPoint & Word, and specialized IEP software

    WORK ENVIRONMENT :
    Works indoors - classroom environment. Outdoors - playground, exposure to all weather conditions and temperatures. Exposure to noise, dust and fumes. Extensive contact with students, parents and teachers.
