POSITION SUMMARY:
Federal Way Public Schools' instructional technology department is taking transformational steps to align with our district strategic plan and theory of action to ensure that ALL central office team members provide evidence-based, responsive, coordinated, and aligned systems of support to schools, staff, teachers, and most importantly ensure scholars have the desire to learn at high levels with academic supports to graduate career- and college-ready. Instructional technology does this through the lens of technology integration within learning, personalized learning defined as blended learning, project based learning, and differentiated instruction as well as science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) integration for all scholars.
Under the direction of the K-12 Director of Instructional Technology, the Instructional Technology Facilitator will carry out assignments in support of certificated staff in the areas of curriculum development, professional development, review, evaluation, and resource selection.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive.   • Assists the Director, Instructional Technology in achieving the goals of the school district's strategic plan and carrying out policies established by the Superintendent and Board of Directors.Develops, implements, and evaluates goals and objectives as they pertain to areas of responsibility.Establishes a climate in the areas of responsibility conducive to appropriate conduct, performance, attitude, job satisfaction, and service orientation.Manages procedures to assure compliance with FWPS, OSPI, and Federal policy and procedures related to curriculum implementation and technology integrationEvaluate teacher use of curriculumEvaluate tech integrationProvide input on evaluation of teacher TOSA and coachesLeads collaborative groups through the evaluation of selected program areas, courses of study, and the development of curriculum guides which will provide for a progression of curriculum concepts and instructional skills through all grade levels of instruction.Provides leadership in program development in assigned curricular areas, to include design of district curriculum, identification and alignment of instructional materials, design of professional development , long and short-range planning for ongoing, evidence-based improvementDevelop, implement, and train Coaches to use pre-created online, in-person, and blended professional development in support of GVC and site based STEAM, PBL, Blended LearningLead and co-lead STEM Exploration Night, Edcamps, and Summer InstitutesTrain and support departments in their development of job-aligned professional development that creates a systemic, sustainable approachProvide site based and district based professional development as in-person, online, and blended professional learningK-12 Technology Peer Coaching Summer and Year Long Professional DevelopmentFacilitates the development of teacher leadership capacity K-12 in the area of Technology Integration, STEAM, PBL, Blended LearningLeads regular meetings of and maintains communication with teacher leaders as peer coaches and collaborates with department leads, TOSAs, and instructional coaches in assigned curricular areas.Leads and co-leads adoption cycles for GVC content areasLead the evaluation of all technology with special emphasis on technology embedded within adoptions and offer guidance on possible optionsCollaborates with the P-12 Facilitators to ensure an aligned PK-12 program of study for students.Coordinates special projects as necessary.Works cooperatively with central office leadership and other central office departmentsSpends time at schools in direct and personal consultation with principals, instructional coaches and teachers to provide the full range needs in assigned areas of responsibility.Follows a planned professional growth program, participates actively in local, state, and national professional associations/organizations; and studies local, state, and national guidelines for effective services in assigned areas of responsibility.Serves on regional teams related to STEAM, PBL, Blended Learning, and Technology Integration initiatives. Develops and implements long- and short-term plans and activities.Assures accurate and timely dissemination of information.Keeps informed of trends in assigned areas of responsibility, as well as other pertinent areas, such as federal, state and local laws, and district regulations, policies, and procedures.Performs all other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree.
Five (5) years successful K-12 classroom teaching experience
Washington State Multiple or Single Subject Teaching Credential.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis
A strong background working with a diverse population
Proven positive record of and training in how to mentor and coach adult learners
Possess the leadership experience and cognitive coaching ability to promote high expectations, demonstrated a caring attitude, and establish an environment that enhances collaboration and learning
Experience teaching scholars and mentoring teachers using standards-based grading and reporting philosophy
Training in content standards-based technology integration, such as Gates Teacher Leadership Project, Microsoft Peer Coaching, Microsoft Innovative Educator, or other similar train the trainer model
Technology standards and Washington content standards within curriculum
Knowledge or experience in blended learning, inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, science and engineering practices, and/or challenge learning
Plans and prepares for the use of available materials, including technology; can describe technology tools that will support and enhance scholar understanding of content standards
Experience teaching or coaching using a project-based learning and/or blended learning instructional approach at the elementary, middle school, or high school level

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in related field
Administrator or Principal Certification
Successful experience in K-12 teaching in urban public education
Successful experience in an ethnically diverse public school district
Completion of courses in curriculum and instruction, curricular design, and professional development design and delivery

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Criminal background clearance
Valid Washington State Driver's License

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Knowledge of Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and national technology standards for teachers, students, administrators, and library teachers
School board policies and procedures
Organizational theory and its application in the area of curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation
Principles, practices, trends, goals, and objectives of public education
Effective principles and practices of classroom instruction, teaching methods, and techniques
Research, best practices and technical aspects of assigned areas of responsibility

Describe technology tools that will support and enhance students' understanding of content standards

Self-learn technology tools to explore the potential integration within learning

Effectively utilize teacher and scholar common software such as Windows 10, Office 365, Canvas, Google Apps, iOS Apps, Camtasia, video editing software, and other emerging technology
Demonstrate proficiency using an e-mail and calendar system
Remain flexible; able to cope with frequent interruptions and shift priorities to meet required deadlines
