What is Opportunity Culture?
Aligned with your mission. Designed for your success. That’s Opportunity Culture. We are committed to providing teachers with career development and advancement opportunities based on their excellence, leadership and student impact. Teachers earn more money by expanding their impact and taking on more responsibility within the school, all while staying in the classroom. In an Opportunity Culture, all teachers and staff have a chance to realize their potential through collaboration with — and leadership from — excellent teachers.
Who are we looking for?
Opportunity Culture teachers in Edgecombe County Public Schools have a strong growth mindset, value continuous improvement, and have a demonstrated record of achieving high growth and increased proficiency with students. These top-notch educators and paraprofessionals are dedicated to their community and have the ability to build strong and caring relationships with students, parents, and community members. What positions are available?
- Multi-Classroom Leader: Multi-Classroom Leaders, also known as MCLs, extend their impact by leading other adults and students. In Edgecombe County Public Schools, MCLs lead teams of one to four other teachers, and teach students of their own. They are accountable for the learning of all of the students on the team.
- Expanded Impact Teacher: Expanded Impact Teachers, also known as EITs, plan and deliver in-person instruction for more students than the typical teacher. In Edgecombe County Public Schools, students may rotate between face-to-face learning with the EIT and learning supervised by a Reach Associate, Teacher Assistant, or another staff member.
- Reach Associate: Reach Associates, also known as RAs, are critical to the learning process in Opportunity Culture schools. In Edgecombe County Public Schools, these paraprofessionals assist with instruction and may take responsibility for the non-instructional duties of one or more teachers. While the specific duties of the Reach Associate vary by school, RAs work closely with the teaching staff to ensure student learning is purposeful and time is maximized.
