For the 2018-2019 school year, we will employ nearly 70 staff members and serve more than 500 students. By 2022 we will be a full kindergarten through 12th grade pipeline.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Note, this role sits on the Network team in support of our two school locations.
Codify our instructional program including curriculum, instruction, assessments, and interventions so that our schools and staff are able to focus on executing effectively at a high level.
  • Lead the development of staff across the network, specifically principals and instructional leaders, to achieve ambitious academic results through their own skills and through others.
  • Develop school administrators and instructional leaders to be strong coaches, which in turn creates excellent teachers and strong academic student outcomes.
  • Leverage your content expertise to lead decision-making around our curriculum, assessment and instructional models as we work to codify common curriculum, data practices, coaching, and instruction.
  • Design, access, and refine professional development for instructional staff across the network.

Effectively lead principals, school leaders, and teachers to unlock content and instructional expertise so they can move instruction towards ambitious student results
  • Create an environment for adults to hone in on content rigor and student data to inform instructional decisions, accelerating the progress and growth in all of our scholars.
  • Educate and develop instructional staff in instructional best practices through effective questioning, teaching/instruction, and data-driven practices.
  • Work with our school administrators and instructional leaders to ensure coaching is effective and aligned across schools.
  • Execute the effective roll out of an online coaching platform (e.g. Whetstone), and establish routines and rituals to make it a foundational part of how we operate.
  • Progress monitor key instructional and curricular actions (e.g. observations, feedback, data analysis) and adjust actions to impact achievement.

  • Deeply experienced in best instructional practices, data feedback cycles, and effective teacher development.
  • Content and curricular expertise (ideally ELA and math).
  • Laser sharp analytical skills and in turn can determine levers that will have the greatest impact.
  • Effective project management skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Professional maturity and organizational leadership.
  • Ability to work from parameters for a vision for excellent instruction.
  • Deep commitment to and experience with social justice work.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience working in high performing charter networks or a district or network.
  • Experience working across lines of difference.
  • Getting input from a variety of stakeholders in ways that make them feel heard and valued.
  • Assessment expertise in NWEA, PARCC, Achievement Network Interims, or the PSAT/SAT suite of assessments.
  • Curricular expertise in Engage NY, Summit Basecamp Learning or rigorous ELA instruction.
  • Experience in a startup (or similar) environment.
  • Experience managing schools or working through layers.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bias toward action.
  • Organized and able to stay on top of multiple responsibilities.
  • Eager to learn and continuously improve.
