QUALIFICATIONS: Substantial experience in high school administration, including curriculum development and implementation, design thinking, teacher evaluation, data-driven instruction, and alternative pedagogical practices. Master's Degree required; Ed.D., or Ph.D. preferred.

JOB GOAL: To act as the academic and instructional leader DDLHS, faculty supervisor, and first line of contact for parents and student with a maximum of efficiency, a minimum of waste, and an ever-present overriding awareness of and concern for its impact upon each individual student's education.
  • Maintains alignment between the board-approved vision and mission statements, and the Graduate Profile, the School's charter, the XQ application and deliverables, and design thinking pedagogy and (v) all other academic activities.
  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, leads the development and implementation of all academic intensity and design thinking pedagogy programming necessary to create and maintain it as an XQ Superschool.
  • Acts as the academic leader of the DDLHS responsible for its day-to-day operation including, where appropriate overseeing academic advising; monitoring student academic progress; convening "swat" teams to address student academic emergencies; coordinating the efforts of department heads and the academic affairs committee, etc.
  • Observes, supervises, and evaluates the faculty in the development and implementation of DDLHS academic intensity initiatives; supervises the teaching process (lesson plans and classrooms oversight), and reviews and evaluates the DDLHS academic intensity programs, maintains complete academic records on all students; oversees the grading and the reporting of standards and methods used by teachers in measuring student achievement relative to academic intensity programming; creates uniform teaching practices across all pedagogical philosophies, but in particular design thinking.
  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, establishes programs for the orientation of new teachers, for in-service training of all teachers, and for the evaluation of classroom teachers, to ensure that teachers are familiar with and adhere to the requirements of all academic intensity and design thinking programming.
  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, assists with oversight and direction of the activities of the department chairs, the sponsors of various student organizations and activities, and faculty committees.
  • Ensures that all DDLHS academic intensity programming meets the educational standards established by the State of Delaware and complies with the School's charter and policies of the Board of Directors.
  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, conducts regular meetings with faculty and with department chairs, which will deal both with routine school matters and with the stimulating exchange of ideas on issues of educational/philosophical interest and concern.
  • Prepares a master school class schedule and assigns teachers and students to classes and other obligations.
  • Serves as a consultant to teachers in matters of classroom management, teaching methods, and general school procedures relative to DDLHS academic intensity programming.
  • Makes recommendations to the Executive Director regarding the hiring and retention, and the assignment of faculty.
  • Assists in the admission process for the acceptance of new and returning students.
  • Engages with the DEX Institute and other stakeholders to continually review and revise academic intensity and design thinking programs to ensure continual improvement and growth across all programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Supports the school and its leadership.
